Hey...Right-Wing Trolls...Here's a Little Something...
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 03:14 PM by HOWLIN_WOLF
for ya to chew on! THAT'S RRRIIIGGGHHHTTT...straight from the "Commie's" website! http://www.wsws.org/articles/2004/may2004/moor-m07_prn.shtml

By Richard Phillips
7 May 2004

In another blatant example of corporate political censorship, the multi-billion dollar Walt Disney entertainment company has told it's susidiary, Miramax Film Corp., not to distribute Fahrenheit 9/11, the latest film by Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore, in North America. Disney's actions are part of an intensifying campaign by US ruling circles to censor or silence all opposition to the Bush administration's "global war on terror."
<snip>

Moore said the primary thrust of his new film was to explore "what has happened" to the US since September 11 and "how the Bush administration used this tragic event to push its agenda."
<snip>

The documentary filmmaker had to overcome various funding problems to complete Fahrenheit 9/11. Mel Gibson's Icon Productions initially agreed to finance the production, but suddenly withdrew last year, according to press reports, after Gibson was contacted by the White House and "warned off."
<snip>

Disney's effort to disassociate itself from Fahrenheit 9/11 follows an escalating pattern of attacks on democratic rights and indicates that America's ruling elite cannot tolerate any criticism of it's so-called "war against terror."
<snip>

Disney's attempt to prevent the release of Fahrenheit 9/11 is a clear political attack on freedom of expression. Filmmakers, artists and all those determined to defend basic democratic rights must oppose this censorship and demand the immediate release of Moore's film.

2. We also need to stand behind the current distributor...
of the film as well as the theatre chains showing it! I intend on taking my 8 year old niece to see this, and I'd better not have to tolerate any bullshit from the fascist pigs that I look to try and disrupt moviegoers!

3. I can't really
blame disney for not wanting to release an extremely political film. It's bad for business. Besides they knew it would be released by someone else.

6. Well...to quote further...
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 03:32 PM by HOWLIN_WOLF
Responding to Disney's actions, Moore said "At some point the question has to be asked: 'Should this be happening in a free and open society where the monied interests essentially call the shots regarding the information the public is allowed to see?'" Fahrenheit 9/11 was a 'partisan' movie, he said, adding, "It is partisan on the side of the poor and working people in this country who are providing the fodder for this war machine."

7. Bad for business??
This move on the part of Eisner may cost him his job. Disney stands to lose millions from not distributing this film.

10. Micheal Eisner is probably on his way out after this business blunder.
He probably cost Disney millions of dollars in revenue by not distributing this film. Remember, he also lost PIXAR.

I think he *only* makes bad business decisions.

11. baloney
Disney owns ABC and Disney owned WABC here in New York every single stinking day is bubbling over with extremely partisan political rantings from the likes of Limbaugh, hannity, O'Reilly, Drudge and whoever else ... I can barely stomach typing their names. What's the difference? WABC is overtly conservative and pro-bush.
