Anyone have a list of news outlet execs and editors showing which party/candidates they donate to?

OOPS, dupe, please lock.

8. Go to this site and look up any one you want
http://www.opensecrets.org/

But remember, the repugs have figured out that PACs are suspect, so they donate to groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. When ads are produced by this group they are considered "public service" as oppose to political.

12. Difference is newsmeat has all data from 1978 on.
opensecrets only has recent election cycles, and even with those, you have to search each one individually ( pre 2000 )

For example, to see all of Rupert Murdoch's contributions activity, you only need this one page, from which you can click to specific data:
http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_result.php?first=Rupert&last=Murdoch

Try getting 1/3 of that information from opensecrets without having to do 20 individual searches.

16. No
I believe that these are listings of the EMPLOYER of the givers, not the companies themselves. Corporations can't give to candidates directly.

5. It's a little clunky--you have to click on each name to see
who they donated to. I clicked Lucy Liu and she gave to Kerry and a local Dem candidate.

10. Sorry newsmeat!!
I only meant there aren't separate lists. But I was also thinking it it almost like a game. Guess who is in what column sort of thing. I also checked out Cary Grant and was relieved to find he was a Dem too.

I can't begin to imagine all the work that went into a site with that many records! Thank you!

13. If you look at Flynt, he was a libertarian 'back in the day'.
It appears he changed his tune during the Clinton crucifiction.

17. I am VERY surprised at the sports section on that list...
Karl Malone and Jerome Bettis giving money to Bush... ouch.. guess once they make it big they don't give a shit about the rest of us negros in the hood. lol... atleast Isiah Thomas hasn't sold out. I'm also impressed with Barry Switzer, liked him as a coach and he's given to mainly Dems. Only repub is his former student JC Watts.

18. Holy Smokes!
Did you see the size of the contributions that Kevin Spacey has made to the DNC?

$20,000 in 2000
$12,500 in 1996

Of course he also did an individual contribution to Kerry this year of the max $2,000 too
