1. No way.
Too much $$$ to be convicted.

5. It didn't do Leona or Martha much good, did it?
Or the Reverend Moon.

7. None of them are sports "heroes" though.
People hate Martha Stewart and Leona while Kobe is loved and admired. His lawyers have gotten things in that are normally not allowed in rape cases, such as past sexual history. The prosecution isn't even allowed to refer to the woman in question as a victim. I just can't see him getting sent up even if he did it. He's going to walk.

12. It's already unfairly scewed in his favor.
So that's not going to happen. Our wonderful "justice" system at work.

15. If he was
a skier, it might help him in this case. Otherwise, no.

24. Kobe was embarrassed along with his team in the Finals
And may leave LA, and maybe the tarnish is beginning to show. In a town full of egos, his does stand out. I for one won't be sorry to see him go, and I couldn't care less about what he did or didn't do. I was just a humble basketball fan living too close to Los Angeles.

2. hmmm
Do you think he really did it? I'm not sure that I do but I could be wrong. I don't keep up with the case 24-7.

6. Neither do I.
But all this talk from the sports crowd about where Kobi will sign next year makes me wonder if they are putting the cart before the horse.

If he's convicted, his career is over.

11. is it?
if he's jailed for say, three years, he'll still be in his prime when he gets out. Wouldn't there be some team who'd sign him just for his ability?

How many years for a rape conviction? (My guess is not as much as we'd like.)

13. The team that hires him will have major PR problems.
Part of sports' appeal to the public is the example they are supposed to set for children.

What parent would take their son or daughter to see a convicted rapist play?

What kind of hero is that?

have problems with him now. The man's an admitted adulterer.

26. and so is Bill Clinton...
And playing basketball has nothing to do with that.

I don't know if he is guilty, I wasn't there. I'm a Lakers' fan and Kobe is my favorite player on the team.

I hope the trial uncovers the truth.

27. What took you so long?
We were talking about sports stars being heroes to children, not a witch hunt where a man's private sex life was drug out in public for political gain.

Yeah! Pistons!! :yourock:

Seriously, all we know so far is that this has all the makings of a mess so colossally ugly it'll make OJ look like a really boring rerun of CSI. You better believe I'll be watching... an infomercial for fake fingernails on Ch. 38, if that's what else is on!

17. I think a very
loud message was sent when the rape shield law was upheld in this case. No special justice for Mr. Bryant. And yes, I think he did it.

14. Oh yes.
It's small town justice in Eagle County. It's not a very diverse place, if you know what I mean. The jury probably doesn't much like his high dollar lawyers either. We're talking about a resort town with a very have vs. the have nots mentality.

Accused of raping a Colorado woman last summer.

And there's no such thing as a stupid question.
