Bill Press, "Bush Must Go" and "1 star" versus "5 star" reviews at Amazon
With all of the high-profile Bush books on the market, it's hard to say how much of an impact Bill Press ("Buchanan and Press") will have with his new book "Bish Must Go"...

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0525948406/qid=1087446898/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-8466806-6330563?v=glance&s=books

Here are a few Amazon reviews:

zero stars, June 16, 2004
Reviewer: A reader from Raleigh, NC
I'd give this a zero star rating if possible. The books is full of lies. I hope the author is sued for slander. I suggest that readers view Fox News for a more objective picture and some facts.

Do you need Convincing?, June 16, 2004
Reviewer: revreader (see more about me) from Chapel Hill, NC USA
Unfortunately the people who think Bush needs a break will not read a book with a forgone conclusion as its title. The question remains: Are Americans smart enough to see just how terrible the Bush administration has been for our country and the World? Or will we continue to believe lies and vote out of fear?

Just another Bush-bashing book, June 15, 2004
Reviewer: rwjones_aic (see more about me) from Gainesville, FL USA
Bill Press has been an active Democratic operative for many, many years. To his credit, he argues passionately for the values he believes in. But this book is not his best work. Mr. Press just ticks off all the same old Democratic talking points. He doesn't add anything new to the debate.

29 of 30 people found the following review helpful:
YES, BUSH MUST GO!!!!!!!, June 12, 2004
Reviewer: Neal Moody (see more about me) from Monroe, NC United States
A well-researched and very informative book that outlines the reasons why we as Americans are obligated to remove Bush from the White House. If anyone, after carefully reading this book, still votes for George Bush then they care not at all about the future of this country. He has lied incessantly, done nothing for the environment, has made us LESS safe from terror attacks, and so on. If you do not believe me, then read the book. The author can explain these truths much better than can I. (...)

2. when was this book released?
wasn't it just very recently? I didn't realize Bush-lovers were anxiously waiting outside bookstores for these Bush-bashing books to be released. The first review cracked me up as soon as I saw s/he suggested we watch FOX news.

4. I love Bill Press.
He is an honest if moderate liberal. He has been shunted aside even by his own, and I never knew he wrote a new book until now. Thanks for telling me.

7. Me too
I sent him an email after MSNBC canceled 'Buchanan & Press' (hey, I watched it for Bill.) Told him I hoped to see him back on TV soon, reminisced about the late great 'Spin Room', and he sent me a very sweet reply the next day. He is a true gentleman.

8. Yes, I miss the Spin Room too. It was really a good show.

He even kept Carlson honest. But now in hindsight, he really must have pissed the masters off.

Welcome to DU by the way. :toast:

12. Buchanan & Press
was too much thoughtful discussion on events and not enough shouting for the medium. Politics has to be like Springer to get a big enough audience to stay on the air.

People who want to be informed read and people who want to be entertained watch TV and never the twain shall meet.

5. So Press' new book has been freeped just like the others
It happens every time a good political book comes out these days. I know it's a good one when the RWers come out condemning it, and the authors probably consider it a badge of honor.

So many books, so little time!!

6. Four people (three from NC) might have read it.

Quite a few more Amazon accounts found those reviews helpful in deciding whether or not to buy the book. And whether or not I agree with their reviews, all of them ultimately convince me that I’ll like it.

Plus, I generally agree with Mr. Press. Hell, I don't need anybody's spin to tell me what to buy.

And thanks for pointing it out.

10. Bill's idiot side kick just got a TV Show on PBS
I don't think that Tucker is capable of creating his own coloring book let alone a book like Mr. Press has written.

The freepers are jealous and I doubt if they have read the book at all.
