Will/Should Kerry choose a woman as VP?
I think it's about time a woman runs as VP again. Who could he pick?

Pelosi? Too combative. What about Repugnant Todd Whitman? Name suggestions, please.

1. Hilary is the natural choice
Hilary Clinton if she'll accept.

13. She's an awful choice. There are litterally a dozen women I can think of
that would be much better choices. The same media whore airheads continually bringing her up over other people who are actually being considered by the Kerry campaign, are the same people continually talking about McCain and Richardson again and again despite their repeated and unadulterated refusals of the possibility.

Mary Landrieu, Kathleen Sebelius, Jane Harman, these are all people who there has been confirmation of as being looked at by the campaign in a serious way. But the corporate media uses Hillary instead because she's famous.

14. If Hillary's on the ticket, Bush is assured a victory.
She is perfect where she is. As a lightning rod, she helps deflect some of the hard-core GOP's base hatred. If she merges with Kerry, all that hatred would be unified against a single target. Not a good idea.

2. I heard
Jane Harman (sp?) a long time ago.

I know almost nothing about her other than she's from Cali.

3. I think it is time, but he won't...
Sen. Mary Landrieu, Gov. Janet Napolitano are options...

And if Kerry wanted to be really bold, he could choose openly gay Rep. Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin.

4. No offense intended
but it might take 100 more years for a gay/lesbian etc. (sorry, I don't know the proper acronym) to be a VP or Pres.

A straight woman might take almost as long...

8. Would make for an interesting campaign :)
Because * couldn't just say - don't vote for them, they have a gay/lesbian/transgender as VP! It would all have to be subtle - and the PAC's would do the heavy lifting...

7. Unfortunately
You are correct. The sexist pigs and persistent stereotyping of women in this country is still too deeply ingrained in our culture to accept a woman as VP, never mind president. I hope to see it happen in my lifetime but not counting on still having my mind when it does.

If you want to blame anyone for not voting in women, I think you don't have to go far.

11. I doubt he will, unless it's Hillary.
I think Kerry has an issue on the personality area, and his team may think Hillary could outshine him, and maybe some other women too.

But some mentioned here are interesting.

I think he should pick someone who can help carry a swing-state, and Landrieu might fit the bill there, if Lousiana could be swung over that way.

Edwards might help in NC, but I think Bush will carry NC anyway.

17. Doubtful........women are too disliked in the United States......
sorry, but it's unfortunately true. :( Too much effort would be made to tear down any female running as VP. The jealous rednecks and stepford wives would be too envious...

You've all been saying you wished Kerry's campaign would go more to the left. Well, Pelosi would be perfect for that.

21. Mary Landrieu
can't think of any others who would be good at this moment. while i think there are many who would actually make good presidents and vice presidents. i only mean in terms of getting votes. i still think there is a lot of anti women stuff out there and with the war stuff they will try to make it as if the woman will be weak. but landrieu has proven she can overcome that.

22. No..because a woman should run for the top of the ticket....
Because if she is not deemed qualified to run as president, then why would she be qualified to be VP? In other words, once she has been in a campaign and gets measurable support from the voters, then she would have a claim to the VP spot.

23. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 08:59 AM by King Of Paperboys
And don't give me any crap about POTUS and VPOTUS residing in the same state being unconstitutional. Big Dick was a Texas resident up until he became the nominee, when he conveniently changed his voter registration back to Wyoming... and the SCOTUS upheld this obvious dodge... yet another way the election was stolen.

Edited because "obviozus" is not a prozoper wozord.

27. No - he should choose a running mate who could be president. If that is a
woman, so be it. It is time to stop the game of trying to "balance" tickets. Do what Clinton did in 1992. He chose Gore because he was the best candidate for VP that Clinton felt comfortable with - even though both were white men from a Southern or border state. It turned out to be the right choice.

She is a fiesty Democrat who takes no guff and is very very intelligent. She makes them sweat when she is on any talk show against any Republican.
