damnit, stop being so gloomy! the ape said THIS yesterday
"And I am an optimistic person. I guess if you want to try to find something to be pessimistic about, you can find it, no matter how hard you look, you know?"—Washington, D.C., June 15, 2004

5. I'd be optimistic, too, if...
I never had to work a day in my life, I had more than enough money, and I knew there was always someone there to rescue me.

7. Gosh, gee willikers, if only *I* was raised in a rich, priviliged family..
where everything was handed to me...where I never had to know deprivation or hardship or, gosh darn it, even hard work. Where I was handed the finest education possible, where Daddy was always around to help me out.

Then, by gosh, I too, could be optomistic all the time. It must be nice living in a fairy tale, pretend world.

10. "you can find it, no matter how hard you look" ???
is that really what he said?

you CAN find it, no matter how hard you look ???

I know it is early in the morning and I haven't had my coffee, but this sentence doesn't make sense.

It wouldn't be a surprise, of course. Nothing that dumba** says makes sense anyway.

11. Steve Martin, Nixon and Let's Get Small
It just hit me this morning!

Anyone remember Steve Martin's "Let's Get Small" album? Remember his banjo bit about Nixon? "I think things would have been okay if Nixon had only had a banjo: 'Hey! Everything great!'" as he strummed along.

And I realized, this has now come to pass while irony and satire have been neutered.
