Pfc. Keith Maupin, remember him?
He was taken hostage at the end of April? I haven't heard anything about this guy in at least a month. Has anyone heard any updates on him? I haven't hear Kimmet mention him either at any of the centcomm press conferences.

7.  I do, because when Nick Berg was killed, the
kidnappers said that they had offered him for exchange of Iraqi prisoners and got NO RESPONSE from U.S. People thought this was bogus, but when Maupin was first kidnapped they said that offers to exchange him for Iraqi prisoners had been made as well, so he has probably gone the way of Berg and we'll find out in a few months or weeks. I know lunaville (now icasualties.org) has 1 soldier listed as captured but I don't know who, I'll go look. I found alot of articles about his capture, but nothing else.

DoD Announces Soldier's Captured Status

The Department of Defense announced today a change in the status of a soldier serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom from duty status - whereabouts unknown to captured.
Pfc. Keith M. Maupin, 20, of Batavia, Ohio, was declared captured on April 16.
On April 9, Maupin and Sgt. Elmer C. Krause, 40, of Greensboro, N.C., were categorized as duty status - whereabouts unknown when individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire attacked their convoy.  Both soldiers were assigned to the Army Reserve’s 724th Transportation Company, from Bartonville, Ill.
Krause’s status remains unchanged because his whereabouts remain unknown.  Efforts continue to obtain the successful and safe return of both individuals.
Questions regarding theater operations can be directed to CENTCOM at (813) 827-5895.  Change-in-status questions can be directed to Shari Lawrence, deputy public affairs officer for the U.S. Army Human Resources Command in Alexandria, Va., at (703) 325-8856.
For the public affairs officer assisting Maupin’s family contact Maj. Willie Harris, 88th Regional Readiness Command, (612) 290-0517.

edit:
Sgt Krause's remains were found the same day of this release, so he is KIA, and Thomas Hamill was captured on the same day as these guys.

9. Not a day goes by that I don't wonder about him
It's very sad. His family must be half out of their minds with grief.

As for team bush, I guess they haven't found a good way to exploit Pfc. Maupin's situation yet.

Dear Sirs:
Please send our special forces and use all our espionage sources to try and recover this soldier and urge the nation to keep him in their prayers.

Because of the continued insensitivity of the Liberal Media in deluging the world about alleged abuse of Iraqi prisoners they've greatly endangered this brave young man and any other hostages.
Spring , TX

you really need to click on the link to see this page, a picture of Dick Cheney's ugly face is right beside this letter, Ugh this is utterly disgusting, blaming the prisoner abuse on the "liberal media" and saying it is why Maupin is still missing. They make me sick, SICK. I'm sure Cheney had one of W.'s inbred cousins write this message. And of course no where is Cheney's response saying "you're right, we need to send in the special forces, we'll get right on it." Scum sucking bastards, all of them.

11. "I did not come willingly, because I wanted to stay with my child"
New videotape aired on Friday on Al-Jazeera which broadcast a video which showed a young man wearing camouflage and a floppy desert hat. He was sitting on the floor. He was surrounded by five gunmen, their faces covered by scarves. The U.S. Army soldier identified himself as "Pfc. Keith Matthew Maupin."

Maupin joined the Army Reserves to help pay for college. His mother, Carolyn, headed a local support group for military moms. A brother had just completed his Marine basic training.

I am married with a 10-month-old child,” said the man, who frequently looked down, as if reading words on a piece of paper. “I came to liberate Iraq, but I did not come willingly because I wanted to stay with my child.”

I know this is dated, but I remembered this quote when I read it. This is too sad for words.
