When Sally Baron's family wrote her obituary, they described a northern Wisconsin woman who raised six children and took care of her husband after he was crushed in a mining accident.

She had moved to Stoughton seven years ago to be closer to her children and was 71 when she died Monday after struggling to recuperate from heart surgery. Her family had come to the question of what might be a fitting tribute to her.

"My uncle asked if there was a cause," her youngest son, Pete Baron, said.

Almost in unison, what her children decided to include in the obituary was this: "Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush."

"She thought he was a liar," Baron's daughter, Maureen Bettilyon, said. "I think his personality, just standing there with that smirk on his face, and acting like he's this holy Christian, that's what really got her."

2. Ah, Sally Baron - God bless her.
She is an icon on DU, for her obit and for coining the name "whistle ass" for Dumbya.

4. That's awesome! But, on the other hand...
it's rather saddening to contemplate how many years our Illustrious Primate of Power (tm) might have stolen away from that poor woman because of her grief. I know my personal stress level goes up at least a little every time I think about *. :(

12. That's wonderful, FY...
As sorrowful as the experience of his death is, that is a beautiful tribute to leave the world. :)

11. Her sentiments are what the courting of the religious
right by the republicans was intended to extinguish, crush and destroy. This is the only way, and I mean the ONLY way, that rich bastards could get these poor folks like miners and factory workers to vote republican, by demonizing democrats by aligning gay rights and liberalism with sexual perversion. And it worked, because we did not come up with an adequate response, it was way too little, way too late. It is these people that shed the blood sweat and tears of America at work and at war, and these folk are some that democrats need to never let down, because they will vote religious conscience in a heart beat. The problem is that politics is a white collar game all around, so it's easy to see why they think there's little difference in the parties. And probably the majority of white collar policiticians are going to work for the good of their white collar selves, in one way or another. But we do have a hell of alot of heroes in congress right now.
