I signed up a few months back, and I've probably taken 8-10 polls by now. Like it or not, these polls are going to be really important over the next 5 months, and we have a chance to sway public opinion by taking part in them. The average joe just watches the news, hears the latest poll results, and backs whoever seems to be on top - no one wants to back a loser.

I know a lot of people get freaked out about giving their name, address, and e-mail info to a polling company, but I was somehow reassured by their privacy statement. Maybe I'm just naive, but it seemed like it was on the up and up to me.

I think we should all get in the practice of taking as many polls as possible. I had the American Beef Council call me the other day, wanting to know what kind of beef I enjoy. He literally asked, "Does just the thought of a big juicy steak make your mouth water?"
Every time he asked me what kind of beef I buy I told him I only eat Free Range or Grass Fed beef, which totally blew his Texas mind. He'd never even heard the term Grass Fed.

It's time we become the Average American opinion!

Had the Kerry/Dean or Kerry/Gephart tickets vs. */crashcart.

The American Dream questions bothered me a bit. I didn't really like their choices so I refused the question. They were basically asking if you thought that the American Dream is gagued by monetary success, spiritual fulfillment, or is unachieveable.

3. I'm really torn on this....

On one hand, you're right. People are influenced by what others think, and building perceived momentum could be very important.

On the other hand, if Karl Rove sees * sinking faster than the box of rocks on "Will it Float?", they're gonna go with Plan C, which is (of course) "Major Terrorist Attack, Martial Law, Postponed Election."

For general edification, Plan B was "Steal Election Using Diebold Black Box Voting," but that's got some serious blowback going on right now.

Seriously, I think you're being a bit :tinfoilhat: on this one.

The media just parrots whatever the polls say, and most voters just parrot the media. Why not teach them to parrot our language?
