Tape of Air Traffic Controllers Made on 9/11 Was Destroyed

"A quality-assurance manager at the center destroyed the tape several months after it was made, crushing the cassette in his hand, cutting the tape into little pieces and dropping them in different trash cans around the building, according to the report. The tape had been made under an agreement with the union that it would be destroyed after it was superseded by written statements from the controllers, the report said.

The quality-assurance manager told investigators that he had destroyed the tape because he thought making it was contrary to Federal Aviation Administration policy, which calls for written statements, and because he felt that the controllers "were not in the correct frame of mind to have properly consented to the taping" because of the stress of the day."

I had to turn it off because of how angry I was getting. They are setting the stage for a most egregious cover up. I can't believe they let Gen Myers snake out before some of the hardest questions were answered.

14. RB...if you watched the hearings his a.m., though you heard they found

"other tapes" that they were "told weren't available" that showed some of the witnesses lied.

While there's sure to be "cover up" in this Commission, you have to admit that they have much less leeway since the Internet and families of 9/11 victims are all working hard to get every piece of info out there, including the fact that some "pieces" are missing and were "Deep Sixed" under suspicious circumstances.

I think, given the odds against them, the 9/11 Comish is providing alot of "avenues to go down," in their report.

This mornings hearings revealed alot for folks to chew on. It was far better than the Warren Commision could provide without Intenet Researchers info back in the 60's when it was TOTAL CONTROL.

Give them a little break on this... It won't end with THIS 9/11 Commission, imho, but this gives a "foundation." They have done some interesting work agains ALL ODDS!
