Did anyone watch the Daily Show last night?
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 05:00 PM by shylock1579
I don't recall the author's name, but he wrote a book and was interviewed by Stewart. The book described why the left would prevail... his argument is that rationality would always triumph over irrationality. Why are we not seeing this happen? Or are we, and it is just the early stages?

edit: misspelling, sorry

9. Now he's editor of "The American Prospect", probably my fave political mag
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 07:23 PM by demo@midlife
He's brilliant and droll, an excellent guest for TV or radio. They call him regularly on Air America Radio's Morning Sedition and he was just on The O'Franken Factor yesterday.

Two of the best points he makes:

- "Liberal" is not a bad word and we shouldn't be cowed about or ashamed of being liberal.

- On Taxes: People who say, in effect, "Idon't wanna pay because it's MY money!" should, instead be saying, "I pay my taxes because it's my COUNTRY!" These corporate execs who go out of their way to avoid paying taxes are being the opposite of patriotic, because they really only care about themselves.

I hope his book comes out on audiotape someday soon, since I can "read" that way while driving.

Anyway, I love Robert Reich!

On edit: for additional info.

6. Here's a quote...
"I think that any reasonable person watching American politics would come to
the conclusion that a second Bush administration would in fact incorporate a more
radicalized version of what we’ve seen in the first administration. The reason is that
the constraint would be removed. At least now, they know they have to face an
electorate. That restricts their movement somewhat. But those constraints are off
if they win a second term. Their ideological extremism can have - will have - a field day."

7. I'd like to believe Reich, but irrationality isn't going anywhwere
These days, you are expected to believe that...

A Blowjob is an impeachable offense, but invading and occupying 2 countries on a LIE is not.

Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Joe Scarborough, Brit Hume, Bill O'Reilly, Anndrew Coulter, Sun Myung Moon's Washington Times, Rupert Murdoch, Conrad Black, PNAC Weekly Standard, Clear Channel, and TimeAOLWarnerCNN are the "liberal media".

The best Presidential candidate in 35 years is "unelectable" while the "electable" candidate refuses to disagree with the bastards who are destroying the country on their illegal wars, and those of their fascist Likud allies.

Rationality? Sorry Bob, I'm not seeing a comeback anytime soon :(
