Tonite on MSRNC's Scarboro he's supposed to be talking about F9-11 being pulled from theaters. This was a teaser so it may be hype, but I guess now I gotta subject myself to his show to find out.

Anyone else heard this? This is the first I've heard.

2. and it's likely the last you'll hear of it
Scarborough is a liar, and likely a murderer.

The movie will open on far more screens than any documentary in history, and it will likely expand from there, depending on the response.

10. It's true in Wisconsin
They orginally had 7 or 8 theaters listed. Then all of a sudden it was down to one. They have since added one more theater to the list, both in the Milwaukee area. I can't believe that it's not scheduled for Madison. And I hope that it makes it into Northeastern Wisconsin.

I know you're right about the Oriental. That's one of the ones listed on the F911 website. But there were also a couple of theaters in Madison and one in Ashwaubenon that have been dropped from the F911 website. Maybe these will come back and be posted again. I don't know whay they were dropped from being posted.

24. now you see them, now you don't...
For the past couple of weeks there was only one theater in Alabama listed for opening weekend of FH911, the Rave Festival Plaza in Montgomery. Then a few days ago that theater listing was gone and two more (Birmingham and Mobile) were added. I talked with the manager of the Rave in Montgomery earlier today and he said as far as he knows they are still slated for the premiere, but nothing will be confirmed until the day before (Thursday, 6/24).

I have sweet-talked ten other people into attending opening night (plus my husband and me), even if it means a long drive, as chances are nil it will open in our small town. None of these folks would have ever made the effort to stand up and be counted during the opening weekend, and more than half of them would probably not even see the movie without some encouragement from someone they know and trust. Of course, they may deny they ever knew me after we see the movie, but at least I'll get them in the door!

The uncertainty about where FH911 will premiere and how one can actually get advance tickets is maddening. I know it can't really be helped, I'm just venting a bit. I'm a relatively new DU member, though I've lurked for more than a year. I started a thread asking for success stories on purchase of advance tickets, but got little response. Is this a reflection of distrust for newbies?

Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 11:46 PM by 0rganism
If your theatre of choice has an advance ticket service, you can probably get F911 tix there. If you've got 10 people going, you may even qualify for a group purchase. I just read through the F-911 ticket FAQ, and it looks like it's going to vary from theatre to theatre.

Usually, DUers are polite and cautious around newbies, but I doubt you were outright ignored because of newbieness. Hell, I've been here for years and people still don't reply to my posts. :D

This is a much different animal. Theatrical releases are almost untouchable when it comes to boycotts. I seriously doubt anything but a handful of theaters (if that) are changing their mind. Scarboro is simply hoping that by saying something, it'll come true. I'll keep my eye on the MA total. I'll be very surprised if it drops.

15. As a matter of fact
If you check my posting in the Mass. forum on the theaters, you'll notice a few more were actually added since my posting, including Fenway and (I think) Harvard Square. So I would say more theaters are eager to show a film that has this much buzz coming into it.

19. I all ready ordered my F-911 tickets in advance :o)
I can't wait to go see it. Me and my GF are giddy with excitement at getting to see this movie. Since the Right-Wing greedy, angry, selfish, murdering, compassionless, simple-minded, ass-kissing, sheep-like whores are rallying against the movie, my excitement level is going up dramatically!!

I'll repost this as I just posted it in another F-911 anti Scarblood thread here.

These guys are not only simple-minded, but they are very suggestable.

I wrote to Mr. Angry (O'Homo) at Fox and told him that his sort of harsh rheteric would lead to civil war and the next night he was talking about civil war.

I later wrote a letter comparing them to nazi's and now they are calling liberals nazi's.

Organize a lot of people and send hundreds of letters telling them that they are purple-colored and the next day they will be rallying against all liberals being purple colored.

The "use irony" approach they have been using for years was very effective - too bad we figured it out a long time ago!!

Some People Still Don't Want You To See My Movie... From Michael Moore

Friends,

We're a week away from the nationwide opening of "Fahrenheit 9/11" and not a day goes by where we don't have some new battle to fight thanks to those who are still working overtime to keep people from seeing this film. What's their problem? Are they worried about something?

A Republican PR firm has formed a fake grassroots front group called "Move America Forward" to harass and intimidate theater owners into not showing "Fahrenheit 9/11." These are the same people who successfully badgered CBS into canceling the Reagan mini-series a few months ago. And they are spending a ton of money this week to threaten movie theaters who even think about showing our movie.

As of this morning, a little over 500 theaters have agreed to show the movie beginning next Friday, June 25. There are three national/regional theater chains who, as of today, have not booked the movie in their theaters. One theater owner in Illinois has reported receiving death threats.

--snip==

Please, contact your local theaters and let them know you want to see "Fahrenheit 9/11." Tell them that some people don't know that this is America and that we believe in freedom of speech and the importance of ALL voices being heard. (The members of MoveOn.org—an ACTUAL grassroots organization—have done a very cool thing. They are pledging to send a message to theater owners and are planning to attend a showing of the film on its opening weekend.)

--------------

Most of us know about MoveAmericaForward but let's keep sending emails and calling the theaters. These people are desperate to keep this movie from being shown.

51. Indiana theaters
my letter to Kerasotes theaters, which operates in the upper midwest (Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, etc.) A "contact us" button can be found on their website

Kudos to you for showing Michael Moore's Farenheit 911. You operate in a relatively conservative area, and I imagine that you have received some pressure not to show this film. Whether you agree with the politics of the film or not, people should have the opportunity to see it. If someone disagrees with it, they don't have to go. And you, as a business owner, should have the right to earn money doing what it is that you do... show films. My family attends your two Bloomington locations regularly, and will continue to do so.

Thank you again.

39. Oh shit! It disappeared from Lakewood, Washington!!
Hmmm... Bush is going to speak there tomorrow at Fort Lewis, which borders Lakewood, Washington and Tacoma. I just saw that the Lakewood theatre is now GONE from the listing. It was there a few days ago. I KNEW that it would be scuttled because it's a damn narrow-minded, republican, military town. This is fucking bullshit!

42. It was scheduled for 4 theaters in Houston. Now scheduled for 6!
Plus a couple of communities in the Greater Houston area, including Tom DeLay's SugarLand.
