Bush gives Al Qaeda everything they ask for!"
Alternate Title :)

If it is true that Osama Bin Laden (and company) truly hated Saddam Hussein for be a secular dictator, then they would welcomed his demise from whatever source possible. They know from history, that the U.S. likes to install weak, puppet governments and get the hell out as soon as possible. Once Iraq is left to its own devises, they know that they can get support in the south with the radical Shi'ite clerics (like Al Sadr) who have similar fundemental beliefs. They know that the Shi'ite majority can easily take over the central part of Iraq if no intervention occurs from the West. Now, they would have another Taliban. While Saddam was in power, they probably could never get a foothold in Iraq due to Saddam's paranoia and brutality towards opposition. I think we may have now helped Al Queada snag another Afghanistan.

What do you all think?

1. Yes, of course they did
Hussein was originally supported by the US as a 'bulwark against Islamic fundamentalism' (though at the time, Iran was considered the main source of this). Hussein was brutal toward Islamic fundamentalists. The US basically took out one of al Queda's main enemies in the region. In addition, the US has also provided them with a convenient abundance of vulnerable American targets.

2. Absolutely, Bush has been following the Al-Queda plan to the letter
ever since 9/11.

He's doing precisely what they want him to do!

6. Of course they did - we did nothing but help their cause
Look at the facts: Since we invaded Iraq, Al Qaeda numbers have been skyrocketing worldwide. Iraq had a secular government - hated by Islamic fundamentalists (Saddam went after Islamic fundies regularly). With our invasion of Iraq and removal of Saddam, the region has been destabalized, thus increasing the potential for civil war and possible theocracy to come in after US pulls out. Finally, with US military attention on Iraq, Al Qaeda has been able to regroup and grow stronger. Had we not attacked Iraq, we could have been focusing all our energy on fighting terrorism and destroying Al Qaeda.
