Why is media so quick to label this "Al Qaeda"?
It's a horrible, horrible event. But I thought this was the "Fallujah militia" or some such name with "strong ties" to AQ. Were the 9/11 perpetrators not Saudi as well? The reason I bring it up is I see all sorts of message board postings now saying "See, that's why we are in Iraq"....

1. Because Al Qaeda is the catch-all "boogie man" for the ...
bush administration. It is an "easy sell" for them. Everything that is done that is against the bush admin is done by Al Qaeda.

2. because it's easy to sell.
the same reason we have scooby doo and garfeild movies. you don't have to explain the product. if people are already familiar with something, then you don't have to spend time and money explaining it.

not that i really want to compare these things to selling stuff. but what i mean is, once something has a label/persona it is easy to just keep using that instead of explaining something new or in more detail.

or whatever, they are whores and do what they are told.

3. The head of hair on CNN...
...said the group is "the Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula." WTF does THAT mean?? I thought Al Qaeda was "the Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula." Whores. (I think it was the guy on CNN. Either that or MSRNC. Both a couple of Ken Dolls.)

4. Al Qaeda is the new Communism.
Just as everything in the Cold War era was blamed on Communists, everything is now blamed on Al Qaeda.

It's fearmongering.

(but you already knew that...)

;)

5. geez guys
I mean the guy claiming credit says he IS the head of Al Queda in SA.

I mean its a little unfair to attack CNN when the group, apparently the only group thus far, who is claiming responsibility SAYS they are with AQ, for saying it is a group with AQ.

6. Just because someone SAYS he/she is responsible
does not always mean he/she IS responsible. You cannot take everything at face value -- not when it comes from this government. I sure as hell am not.

7. It would help it you straightened some things out....
First this was done in Saudia Arabia, not Iraq.

The group itself in its messages claims to be affiliated with Al Queda. They were demanding that the Saudis release militants rounded up in recent weeks.

8. I am very clear on that point
Again, many are making the leap that this beheading=al Qaeda=9/11=war on terra=war on Iraq. And Cheney and company are even this week reaffirming that linkage.

12. What media?
Message boards? Gee,go take a dump or something. Thousands of soldiers have been killed and injured forever and you worry about some mercenary? Greed has its own rewards. Oh and don't forget the "co-lateral" damage.

15. One word-beheading
It's the al Queda way as well as the Saudi Arabian way where al Queda, Wahabbiasm, and miltant anti-American Islamic terrorism was born and funded.
