How many of you think the Paul Johnson situation is only a smoke-screen
for any and all forthcoming indictments (Valerie Plame, Haliburton, etc.) -- and new revelations -- against Bushco?

I DO! THIS IS NOTHING BUT FUCKING PROPAGANDA

1. I doubt it - it does not help b*sh enough to do this.
At best, it helps b*sh for a week as people feel emotional about this - then they will get over it. If they needed smokescreens, then they could fabricate finding WMDs...If they could pull that off, then b*sh would stand to benefit.

9. I too want to doubt it's a smokescreen but the timing is just SO
convenient that having suspicions is not off-the-wall. The week that the 9/11 hearings ended as was planned there just happens to a horrible beheading.

This administration has stopped at nothing. If it's willing to bankrupt the treasury, risk soldiers lives, and risk a major armed conflagration in the mid-east, what's one head?

3. The propaganda part...
is all the nazi motherfuckers saying this is some how worse than what happened in Abu Ghraib.

Fucking savages.

7. well, ummm, it is
or at least, it's as bad...I dont think a discussion of degrees is really helpful though...torture is bad and should not be condoned, beheading an innocent guy who's family is pleading with you not to is bad and should not be condoned.

I dont think having a strong reaction to one means you cant have a strong reaction to the other.

I also dont see how this is somehow "faked" by the US as a poster above seems to imply.

13. Lobbing Someone's Head Off Is Worse Than Torturing Somebody
but the logic of comparing the two for this excercise escapes me...

I was embarassed by the behavior of our troops but these beheadings are sad beyond words...

They had the victim's widow on tv prior to the beheading begging for his life...

She was Thai... She doesn't speak much English or Arabic... She said she would be lost without her husband...

I almost cried....

Peace

Brian

22. Is it worse that torturing somebody to death?
Have you forgotten that the torture in Abu Ghraib resulted in at least 23 deaths? Or is that OK because they're a bunch of muslims?

14. Well this single instance is worse than our single instances

to my knowledge anyway. What I truly cannot stand are the assholes that say - "Hey Saddam did much worse things in Abu Ghraib!" I don't know where they then get the logical connection that what we did then is somehow ok if Saddam was worse....wonders never cease.

When I think of Abu Ghraib, I sometimes think about a certain ardently pro-war cartoon, that is way off base, but still cracks me up a little.

When I look at this cartoon, I start to say to myself, "Hmmm...What if we did hold them in detention, but treated them really well with comfortable places to sleep, good food, and TV?" Maybe they would think we were a bit more sincere and provide the info we were asking for since I believe the "insurgents" tend to be more nationalistic than Psychotic Al Qaeda "Terroristic" (although, of course we should never have been there in the first place)...just a weird thought.

24. So you're saying killing an American is worse than killing an Iraqi?
Because Iraqis were murdered at Abu Ghraib. So I'm curious as to why you think this is worse.

25. No, but gratuitious almost pornographic images/videos
of sawing peoples head off with the specific intent to terrify qualifies as worse IMO.

have their own agenda far removed from any machinations of * and Rove.

11. No. This is the fallout of Bush's asinine foreign policy.
And it's not much of a distraction. More like proof that the President is a fool.

12. Look, I believe that Paul Johnson is indeed dead,
but he did not die in the manner in which our beloved government wants us to believe. I do not believe a thing these people and their journalistic enablers tell me.

With the 9-11 report, forthcoming indictments, the release of "F-911" and "The Hunting of the President," it is too much of a coincidence that this has come out today.

15. Exactly!!! His captors said they were. . . . .
going to kill him in 72 hours ONLY three days ago. It's just too freaky that they would decide to kill him today.

17. Anything could be true.
We don't know yet.

Not everything is a hoax event. We ought to appreciate that there are some people in the world who simply want to behead Americans, and they harbour no hidden agenda. In fact, this is why hoaxes like the Nick Berg video arise, and fool so many.

One thing I do know: whoever did it is at least an unwitting asset of the White House.
