Anybody knows how to vote for the Arbitron ratings for AAR?
The program people are not allowed to ask people to affect the ratings, but Randi said if you knew how to vote (or whatever) for their program you can do it.
Anybody knows?

3. you can't vote
People are given diaries to fill out with information on what stations they listen to and at what time.

4. I have been an Arbitron listener
you are called and asked if you'd like to be an "Arbitron listener" if you agree they send you a booklet you fill out for a month of who and how much you listen to.

Basically it's like being a "Nielson family" they chose you to be representative off your community

6. I've participated in Arbitron ratings in the past
You are approached by Arbitron, you cannot approach them.

7. here's how
When I was living in NYC a while back I received a form from them (can't remember if I ever figured out how I got it). I filled out the stations I listened to, what times, etc. very detailed.

What you do is you put in times and stations that you want to boost even when you're not listening to them. I rationalized my exaggerations by the fact that IF I were listening to the radio at these times, these are the stations I'd be listening to.

9. I wish RR had not made that comment: Arbitron is a sampled survey....
Edited on Fri Jun-18-04 04:23 PM by hlthe2b
You have to be invited to participate based on their sampling design. Randi should know this and to make that statement suggests she/AAR is desperate to try to "game the system." She just gave O'Liely a shit load of ammo. damn....

11. I thought of that too..
Stating that listeners need to vote but not telling them how in an effort to stay within legal boundaries seemed silly.

I don't know how much a factor this statement will be. But if it spreads across DU and the left side of the blogosphere you can bet that RWers will make the gaming the system claim.
