The war on drugs will end when we decriminalize recreational drugs an treat addition as a disease and not a crime.

The war on terror will end when we learn to live in the world community with tolerance and respect for the differences of the peoples of the earth and learn that being the world's only supper power does not mean we can be a bully.

any "war on" will do for the warrior types. somebody smarter than me can figure if some of this crap has helped us outlast the USSR. we make up sh*t and feed the money into military and law enforcement, give them a "war on" and voila, instant economy fix. i'm sure there are a million other reasons, and all i got is unsubstantiated claims here, but it makes sense to me.
