Just wittnesed unbelieveable Fox propaganda
As we know Fox has their own spin on things. Usually we know what's really going on though.

Today was different. This AM while flipping channels I caught Fox for a second and they were showing Shiite women in Sadr City marching.

The FNC commentator said this was a rally by Iraqi women against violence...suggesting they were marching against the terrorists. I was a tad suspicious because I caught a quick glimpse of a Muqtadr Sadr poster during the march.

Left with a warm cozy feeling in my heart (the Iraqis love us now), I flipped to CNN and within 10 seconds they went to the same story about the march. Turns out, they were marching for peace but also in support of Sadr and against the US. Fox forgot to mention that part. They just flat out lied.

3. Reality has this funny way of interposing itself between what we
think and what we hope will happen.

This is really despicable. You ought to send it to The Daily Howler.

they have been far more duplicitous than Fox. CNN's owners are the bigger enemy to a fair and free system of information than those Fux. The modern megacorporate media is simply a belief system that we shouldnt buy into. Kill your cable box.

"Totally without merit," is my recall.

Seems to fit nicely with the topic of your post.

6. I hope somebody with money and power can sue the ass off FOX*...
* = illegitimate 'news'.

Of course, they'll just change the law to make distortion legal.

This is American "Freedom" at work, folks. No wonder Bush* is in full support defending it.

Florida Court: Broadcasters Have Right to Lie
By Staff

A Florida appeals court has overturned a jury verdict against FOX Television for attempting to force two reporters to falsify and distort a 1996 report on the effects of bovine growth hormone (BGH). According to a statement from the Organic Consumers Association, the husband-wife investigative team of Jane Akre and Steve Wilson had spent nearly a year battling with station officials at WTVT in Tampa, Florida, over the content of their BGH report. The award-winning reporters were eventually fired “without cause” when they refused to make certain changes that would have clearly distorted the report. They filed suit in 1998 under the Federal Communications Act and the Florida whistle-blower protection law. While Wilson lost his case, a jury awarded Akre $425,000 in 2001 for wrongful termination. The appeals court overturned that verdict on a legal technicality, accepting FOX’s argument (which had previously been rejected six times by three different judges) that the FCC’s news distortion policy was not a “law, rule, or regulation,” and that Akre therefore did not have a proper claim to whistle-blower protection. Akre and Wilson won the 2002 Goldman Environmental Prize for their efforts to bring their story to light. While the court did not dispute the facts of the case, FOX claims it was “totally vindicated” by the verdict.

30. Somewhere, there's gotta be liability - no?
I mean - if they report a false story on, say, that smoking is actually not that bad for you.

And someone gets cancer - can't they sue Fox?

I have a suspicion that they're gonna get caught some how.

7. From what I gathered from CNN last night
Sadr has the support of a majority of Iraqi's. They went on to say that doesn't mean they would elect him to the new government but they have his support nonetheless.

I *thought* I read last week that if Sadr disarms his militia, he can join the new government?

There has been so much news I am finding it a little bit difficult to keep track! :)

32. usa
doesn't want anyone who has private militias to run for the government, but the final decision is the interim's government.

cnn did an interesting poll though. about 80% of iraqis sympathise with al sadrs actions, but only 2% would vote for him for the government.

17. FOX is so corrupt ...
FOX's propaganda promoting machine showing signs of weakening ... people know that FOX is bias. Thanks Al Frankin!

What really chaps my hide is that they play to the Infantry soldiers and Marines with all kinds of rhetoric and patriotic fervor one learns in the first year of training OR a few "touched" lifers will always subscribe to ... I laugh every time they show their goof ball military advisers - such clowns :P.

FOX will become more unpopular as a valid news source as more troops return home with life long illnesses, missing limbs and a bad attitude (if not full blown PTSD's effects). Yeah, that "wrapping ourselves in the USA flag" and "whistling past the graveyards" will be highly contested. I want to see the "exact facial expression" when the first disillusioned Iraqi Invasion Vet gets in his O'Reilly's face and screams "BULLSHIT!" Now that moment of truth would be priceless. <hoping and praying> :-)

16. People also believe whatever the media feeds them.
When the democrats get any coverage, like the primaries, Kerry goes up in the polls. When the Reagen cadaver lovefest was going on, the slit eyed rat soars in the polls. Americans don't think for themselves or the polls are rigged.

23. This proves Franken's point that Conservatives think Americans are stupid
because in his book he mentioned how Ann Coulter cites all these references but doesn't have much to back it up...cuz she thinks that conservatives are too stupid to look up her references....

Fox is doing the same thing....they treat the american public like they are retarded. They are hoping no one pays attention to the little details.

28. They have zero shame, and less professional integrity.
This morning I flicked by Tony Snow doing the news saying that the 911 commission reported that there were "no strong operational" ties betwixt Saddam and UBL, falsely allowing room for "some weak operational" ties. This is a carefully calculated phrasing which is designed to put wiggle room in the mis-belief system of RW dead-enders, who MUST cling to the myth of Saddam attacking us on 911, and being bowling buddies with UBL.

I can find nowhere in staff reports or testimony any reference to "no strong operational" ties. What the commission investigation found was that contacts "do not appear to have resulted in a collaborative relationship". Period.

For the last couple of cycles it has become increasingly apparent that it is essential to a Bush win that a very large percentage of the electorate believe that Saddam attacked us on 9/11, and that he and UBL lounged around together at the oasis, debating the most horrible method for killing unsuspecting, innocent Americans. Essential to a Bush win.

The mushroom cloud is toast. Chem/bio is toast. The flowers and honey are wilted and botulistic. Last night on The McLaughlin Group, Lawrence O'Donnell said that the Bush presidency now depends totally on this mis-perception, carefully created and nurtured by the likes of Snow and his ilk.

The truth would set us free. Can't have that.

29. This is demonstrative of what FOX believes their mission to be....
That is to be a cheeleader for the conservative or right-wing agenda and to give an opposing viewpoint to whatever the mainstream media reports if it runs contrary to their agenda. They are not beyond lying to give their side of the story. Facts will not deter their political agenda.
