"An Open Letter to the Anti-War Community and Public-at-Large on Nick Berg and the War"

by Charles Shaw, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Newtopia

To All Fellow Anti-War Activists, and the Public at Large,

A few days ago a respected fellow anti-war activist in Chicago by the name of Daniel Romero posted a message to our discussion list after he had viewed the decapitation video of Nicholas Berg. Although I very much did not want to watch it, I found myself unable to shake Daniel’s words out of my head:

“I convinced myself that by seeing ALL of this…illegal war I might somehow gain a new and profound insight. That the experience of seeing Nick Berg beheaded would magically elevate and deepen my understanding of the causes and consequences of war.”

So I watched it.

There is something in the scream of any animal that knows it is being killed that is unmistakable. It bores through you to the worst parts of your being and just guts you. Every mother on earth who heard that scream had to have doubled over in pain; it is that scream that causes our hearts to race and our bodies to tremble like they do. It’s a primal flight response. And in remembering this as I write this letter, I feel the same elevated response. I imagine I will feel this for quite some time now.
end

It tells you alot about Hannity playing that scream and it tells you alot about the mothers who listen to Hannity not calling in disgust.

What is wrong with those people? How can they be so friggin' heartless in the name of christianity?

2. Christianity
Exactly. I just don't understand how they have become so hateful.

Look at what was posted on that same Anti-War list:

"It is absolutely wrong to torture Arabs in any
location. Wasting time torturing the camel-humping uncivilized
terrorist subhumans is a waste of time and effort. Rather than torture, the governments of all civilized nations should
dedicated themselves to the complete annihilation of the subhuman
Arab race. The Arab scum have proven themselves to be a cancer to
civilized nations. Therefore, civilized nations have the obligation
and duty to cut out the malignant tumor that constitutes the Islamic
Arab menace!"

It makes me want to cry.

3. Those are just good Christians.

I mean come on, the crusades first happened in the middle ages, and they are going on again as we speak. Same old same old. Bunch of "onward Christian soldiers" singing ultra violent sociopaths, ordering other peoples children to cleanse out the "filthy towelheads", just like in the middle ages. And then they act surprised and shocked when the people who's lands we invaded, resources we stole, and people we humiliated, have the audacity to fight back.

Bring it on! said the head nut. Guess what, they are.

6. Some people have asked....
This was written last month, but in light of what happened in Saudi Arabia yesterday, it just seemed that much more appropriate.
