Disgusting game that need attention.

Apparently there is a new game being made that "honors" the IDF and its murder of young children and women. The goal of the game is to kill as many Palestinians as possible. but I'm not going to try to ban it.As a gamer I know I wouldn't want a game I liked banned because people didn't like the content.

There is just some content that goes beyond the pale. Just because the game glorifies the Israeli Defense Forces does not mean it can't be odious. It is but another way to further dehumanize the Palestinians.

3. I'm not in favor of banning this

I don't care if it may offend, but the practice of censorship is simply falling into the trap of the right wing. This is the way they want to play. I for one believe in a limited government that allows me the freedom to play, read, listen to or watch whatever I want. There's some things out there that offend me, but with freedom comes things we may not necessarily like. I can live with that.

This is the same line of thought as RWers wanting to ban F-9/11, or violent movies and other video games, or musical artists like Marilyn Manson. I believe in the First Amendment, and also believe that the more attention brought to it, the more people will want to check it out.

Fortunately, for our side, RWers wanting to ban F-9/11 are just giving the movie more publicity, and making people want to see exactly what it is they want to hide from us.

Well I think the game needs to be stopped. Any game that shows the Jews as being "goog guys" shouldn't be allowed. We should at least do something to keep this game from being supported. They host files on a website called file planet, perhaps if enough people contact that website then they will take it off.

20. chrisdfer, first of all welcome to DU....and now to the point

of my post. Israeli Defense Forces does not equal Jews. While Israel is a majority Jewish state (as the US is a majority Christian country) it does not mean all Jews support what is done by the Israeli government.

This game is not presenting JEWS as the good guys but is presenting the MILITARY of a sovereign nation as the good guys.

12. I find nothing wrong with it.

It looks like a mod of Battlefield 1942, of course a WW2 video game. Nothing I saw on the website was hateful. In any first person shooter there are "good guys" and "bad guys" and while I may not see eye to eye with the person who makes this mod, I don't see where I could rightfully want to get the game banned when there are games of all kinds that are similar.

these guys probably knew teh debate this mod would spring up, that is probably why they went ahead with it. any publicity is good publicity.
i wouldn't worry about it the game will probably suck and no one will play it anyway.

18. It's a mod of an existing game, not an original game.

Anyone can mod a game. A few amateurs can do it in their free time, and the huge majority never make any money off of them. It's not being produced by some game studio.

Also, it doesn't appear to me that this mod is about killing Palestinian civilians. They say on their main page that they've nearly finished building the 3-D elements for the Israeli army, and now they're focussing on the Arab countries.

It looks like they're focussing on the 6-Day War, the conflicts around Israel's founding, etc.

I'm not a supporter of Israel's policies, but I'm not going to attack the creators of this mod just because their politics differ from my own.
