How we can help Air America.
We can help Air America by posting about it on message boards in addition to this one.

For example, let's say you participate in a message board for vegetarians. You can mention that Janeane Garofalo is a vegetarian and post a link to www.airamericaradio.com and note that she's on from 8-11 PM Eastern.

Or if your participate in a message board in which people talk about movies, you can post about it when Tim Robbins is scheduled to appear on an Air America show.

1. great idea
Edited on Sun Jun-20-04 12:08 PM by qazplm
side note though, how can you be a vegetarian AND a smoker??

I dont get it, you want to be healthy and not get cancer by not eating meat, and yet, you smoke which is probably 100 times more likely to make you sicker in the long run.

Sorry, just a question I have always had.

p.s. I didnt mean YOU personally, I meant the general You and Garafalo in particular.

I think Janeane Garofalo a vegetarian for ethical reasons, since she had Gene Bauston of animal rights group "Farm Sanctuary" on the show, and he wasn't there to promote a particular event/product or respond to a particular news-event or anything.

4. maybe she's not a vegetarian for health reasons - plent y of economic
and political reasons to go veggie. Of course there are plenty of economic and political reasons to quit smoking, but it is a helluva lot easier to quit meat than nicotine.

5. excellent idea - I try to do this for all my favorite progressive
audio sources like democracynow.org, radio4all.net, kpfk.org, kpfa.org, alternativeradio.org, fair.org/counterspin, btlonline.org etc.
Lots of good stuff out there, just hard to find without a pointer.

8. You can provide more protein to people by growing soybeans
You can provide more protein to people by growing soybeans and feeding the soybeans to people than by feeding the soybeans to pigs and eating the pigs.

9. as in most things
moderation and balance. I wouldnt eat just meat, and to be honest, while I love a wide variety of vegetable (broccoli and cauliflower being my favorites) I wouldnt eat just vegetables either.

10. vegetarians eat bread and cake and spagehtti
Vegetarians eat bread and cake and spagehtti and so on.

These foods originate from plants, but they aren't vegetables in the common sense.

A person who eats spaghetti-and-tomato-sauce for dinner and cake for dessert probably won't feel that he ate "just vegetables."
