Deregulating the Power Outage 2003
What happens when you take away all the rules placed on power companies to make sure that power grids are failsafe?

You get cheap ways out...which leads to gigantic power outages throughout the eastern part of the country. Yes, it might have been some sort of failure in a power station, but the larger answer is there: deregulation.

I just loved the confused look Bush had when he tried to explain to the country last night what had occurred:



Anybody here feel that the media and Bush seemed to say "this WASN'T a terrorist attack" constantly?

2. Deregulation sucks.
I miss the good old days when utility companies were monopolies and had gobs of regulations to keep them honest. Rates were cheaper, services were customer friendly and timely, and the employees were unionized.
