Now I'm startin' to worry
Okay, if the New Conservative ACTUAlly do form a Canadian Government... and Kerry wins. The Canada/USA dynamic will be switched.
I'll be the one in the facist nation.

Hopefully the polls are REALLY wrong.

1. Could you explain what things look like in terms of this election
up your way. In a nutshell? I've been following the discussions a little, but I would love to hear how you see it.

Or point me to a good nutshell discussion. Thanks. :hi:

3. Well
I was living in denial at first, I figured all the polls were just media bullshit. But it seems the Quebec Sponsorship scandal really did hurt the Liberal party. The Cons are doing a hurricane of attacks on the party which seem to be taking. As well, the old reform/Canadian Alliances attempt to united with the conservatives in a bid to look like a national party has work, and conservative types may vote for them in Ontario area. That would mean serious gains for the cons. Plus there is a dislike of Martin with many centrist types. You can just feel it in the air.

8. thanks
I probably need to read some articles about this. We get so confused down here in the lower 48 when there are more than 2 parties... ;)

2. Me too and I am in CALGARY WEST the riding stuck with the supposedly
"extremist" Robert Anders as an MP. At least there were quite a few others who were concerned about him. http://www.voteoutanders.com.

4. Worried in Burnaby-Douglas
Yeah, worried in Burnaby-Douglas as well. Svend Robinson is obviously out, so the riding is wide open. Went to an all-candidates meeting and the Conservative candidate, George something, can barely string two sentences together and couldn't give an intelligent or even straight forward answer to anything he was asked. If this guy gets blindly elected, I may have to move.

5. The Liberals will form a minority Gov

The Media is playing up the polls showing the Cons & Libs neck & neck

There's only one poll that counts.

& that's how Ontario votes on the 28 of June if Ontario goes to the Liberals & I'm confident it will.

Then it's ball game over for the "New" Cons

15. That's my take too...
it will be a Liberal minority government. The polls have a large # of soft votes, one recent one had 38% that stated they may well change their vote on election day.

6. Yikes, I really wonder if you can appreciate how embarrassed I am to know
so little about Canadian politics. Or how ashamed I am to admit it. I try to keep up with world events and believe I'm pretty well informed but somehow I've managed to stay ignorant about our nearest neighbor and our best friends. How goofy is that? And I'm IN Canada frequently!

Pardon me, I have to find a strong fallen branch with which to flail my stupid self...

9. That "child porn" issue is really roiling things in the election
Martin needs to clear that issue fast or it will fester.

10. Well isn't this funny?
Here I am getting ready to file immigration papers to enter Canada. Of course, being a US citizen, I know little to nothing about anything but my own country- But the immigration lawyer made it very clear that filing before June 28th would be a smart move, since the Conservative party may be voted into office.
I also have noted that in BC, the BC Hydro power company has been threatened by privatization. Can't they learn by our mistakes???? Jeez, I guess money and power are more important than the will or service of the people.
Well, I am learning to pay less attention to government, again. I know that doesn't sound like a good thing to say in a political forum. But just how much of my life can I spend, dedicated to deciphering what is going on around me, versus just plain living my life?
