Fewer Republicans Trust the News, Survey Finds
In a country increasingly divided into red and blue states, the media are taking on a more partisan coloration as well -- at least in the eyes of those who read and watch.

Republicans have come to distrust the media in greater numbers since President Bush took office, says a new poll released yesterday, while Democratic views are mostly unchanged.

Only about half as many Republicans as Democrats find the usual media suspects credible, says the Pew Research Center, including the New York Times, Newsweek, Time, U.S. News & World Report, CBS, ABC, NBC, National Public Radio and PBS's "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer."

"CNN's once-dominant credibility ratings have slumped in recent years, mostly among Republicans and independents," the survey says. "By comparison, the Fox News Channel's believability ratings have held steady -- both overall and within partisan groups."

1. No kidding
Not surprising that they don't watch, since the news tends to prove over and over again that the Republican's sainted President is a moron, and his policies are sending the country down the tubes...

3. I thought it odd...
That suddenly they don't trust the news, now that Iraq has become the republican Albatross around Bush's neck. This counter clock circular spin is coming in a rather timely fashion.

11. It's not odd when you consider the fact that Hannity and OxyBaugh have
been hammering away at media credibility. They have pretty much stolen the mantle of the "liberal media." The question is, with the media being their most powerful tool, how will they continue to use it for influence if they are trashing it? I'm sure they will find away, it's only a matter of a somersault of two and they sheeple will be back on board.

2. That's odd...
Since most of the news is controlled by the Republicans.

There is slant everywhere you look. The trick is to examine the news in as many different outlets as possible. No ONE person knows the whole truth.

You have to accept the grey areas...the Repugs have a hard time with that...and be prepared to change your positions on issues as truths are revealed.

8. So, to be a loyal fundicon,
you must disbelieve everything except what Murdoch (and Rev. Moon) tells you about the world. Unfortunately the inherently amoral corporate media still try to reclaim the viewership of this deluded minority by "adjusting" their coverage to better fit those belief systems. And, unfortunately for the profit-driven whores, reality keeps getting in the way.

12. They Don't Even Trust FOX News

The recent pew media study says that only 29 percent of republicans trust FOX news.

Overall CNN is #1 at 35 percent, and FOX had 25 percent trust.

But only 29 percent of republicans said they trust FOX news. It seems they don't trust the media no matter who the source. And only 35 percent of the people trust CNN.

So FOX can claim they are fair and balanced and the station America trusts until they are blue in the face. The fact is only 25 percent of the people trust them. No matter how much propaganda they put out only 25 percent of the people believe it.

And CNN is not much better, only 35 percent of the people believe their fake news.

15. Any Democrat or Green with even a little sense
has known for a long time that the so called "news" is deceptive. It doesn't have anything to do with partisanship- it has to do with intelligence... and the fact is that Republicans (and many independents) simply aren't very smart, so it takes them longer to figure out that they're being systematically lied to and fed faulty "analysis."
