We should expect a Chinese invasion
That's what I hear from RW whore radio. They are patiently waiting for the correct moment to overtake America militarily.

Well if this isn't the moment, then what is? We are stretched as thin as ever in Afghanistan and Iraq. So why hasn't the millions strong Chinese Army invaded California?

Because the fucked up paranoids are always wrong. They are trying to set up a future bogeyman. They want control through fear.

The neo Christians know how to use fear as a control device.

4. Where did you get that figure?
If there's a single country in the world that could militarily overwhelm us, it's China. Of course, I don't buy this paranoid garbage, but if they really wanted to, they could.

14. Horseshit.
They have neither the navy nor the air force to even get here.

Canada has a better shot of overrunning the USA than China.

Yet alone make the ~3000 mile trip to California.

Oceans are a wonderful thing.

24. note the sarcasm tag
I was making the point obliquely that Ronnie Raygun's famed 600 ship American Navy has no equal or even close runner up. I am almost certain the Chinese have at least 600 shore patrol boats.

Or will it be the famed Chinese Aviators with the mother of all paratrooper drops? /SARCASM

If China had a military capible of beachead invasion, Taiwan would not vex them any longer.

We'd blow their transports and naval force out of the water before they ever got within our ocean territorial boundry. If they could teleport here, it might be different, but as it is...

3. They Can't Even Invade Taiwan!
How are they going to get an entire invasion force across the Pacific Ocean, fer chrissake? During the entire crossing, their navy and air force would be sitting ducks for the US, who has vastly superior naval and air capabilities.

Anyone who makes this kind of claim should be simply held up for ridicule.

A good way of addressing this in an article would be to go to the Pentagon and ask whether they have plans for repelling a Chinese amphibious assault on California. No? Why not? Because, as the Pentagon would explain, it's a ridiculous idea.

6. LOL, someone should tell them how much the Chinese are making....
The very last thing the Chinese want is a war. Especially with us. Even if they could win, which they couldn't, they'd be sacrificing trillions in future income.

It's all about money.

7. If they overtake our military, it won't be for 20 years or more
We're way ahead of them right now.

However, they are striving mightily to improve & modernize for the coming confrontation over Taiwan. If I recall, Clinton sent in the navy when mainland China (PRC) got a little belligerant several years back and parked them near Taiwan... the PRC was too intimidated by our navy to do anything and backed down.

We have these big giant bombs on missiles...thousands and thousands of them. They make a BIG boom and wipe out entire populations of people.

I don't expect that warfare from states will be a factor, rather guerilla warfare from pissed off muslims.

11. The RWers are dinosaurs flailing in the proverbial tar pit
They don't realize that true power in the world is no longer expressed in military terms, but rather in economic terms. There is not now, nor will there ever be again, a single country that will be able to dominate the majority of the "known" world, as there was in the past (i.e. the British Empire).

We live in an increasingly multipolar world. The EU and Japan are rapidly eclipsing us, economically. The only reason that our economy remains afloat is that Japan and Europe allow it to, due to their own self-interest. Should that self-interest in our continued viability as a mass consumer be trumped by other concerns, such as our increasing irrationality in trying to hold on to a hegemony that no longer exists, then we're in for a rude awakening.

The RWers still live in a world in which dominance is expressed through military might. When confronted with the realities of the world around them, they are given the uncomfortable choice of admitting their shortsightedness, or clinging to their outdated notions like grim death. They inevitably choose the latter, to the pain of all of the rest of us.

16. No country needs to attack the US militarily....
they just have to buy up US debt, wait for the proper moment and then call in the loans. Boom, economy goes in the toilet and, interestingly, China, and other countries are doing just that. They have learned from the best, the US, that one can destroy a country faster by inserting themselves into a country economically and then help the downward slide and then stand back and watch the country destroy itself from within.

19. If the Chinese do invade the US
We should all sit quietly in our houses and wait for instruction on what to do.

We should gratefully turn over the keys to all of the government buildings, power plants, museums, etc.

We should happily disband our army and police and turn over all of our weapons.

We should welcome the new currency they put in place and turn over all of our old money for their new bills and coins.

We should turn in any of our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers who do not want to cooperate with the Chinese occupying forces.

After all, isn't that the rules America set for occupation?

33. "They're down there!" "Burrowing beneath Us!"
"Seismologists in America detect the burrowing yellow peril and the US military (eventually) investigates. Using an existing mine to breach into one of the Evil Chinese Tunnels (tm), Da Marines proceed to do a reccy and discover the nefarious goings-on (evil commie bastards!).
The army rush to develop their own laser tunneling machine to counter-attack Da Dirty Commies. Much running around by GIs through papier mache tunnels ensues.
The US laser-mole blows up at a critical moment, however due to grit, determination, know-how and all-round GI can-do, the filthy godless commies are vanquished."

35. After they invade and take control of Russia or Mideast
From what I understand their strength is in their numbers(or potential numbers) in the Army. If they wanted to make a move for world domination, they'd attack Russia or make their way through the Mideast. The US still has lots of effective weapons that can kill lots of people from afar so they probably still wouldn't be successful. We don't fight wars with with tanks and guns anymore.
