Crossfire: Tucker just let something slip
He just said, roughly: "Unfortunately, I think we're going to learn that the threat of terror is real, and that the Democrats' attempts to make fun of it is probably going to be politically counterproductive."

What did this tell us?

A: Tucker thinks we're going to get hit, and hit big.

B: When we do get hit, the Republicans already have the rhetoric and spin machine primed: Democrats made light of this threat, and that's why BushCo wasn't able to stop it.

1. Oh Crikey
:wtf:

Are they really insane enough to think that will help them? What do they have up their corrupt, murderous sleeves?

3. If the repugs were planning another big LIHOP/MIHOP, whatever...
Do you think they would choose to share such info with a little snotnosed punk like Tucker?

He's less whored-out than most repugs, so I really doubt it...

5. Interesting interpretation of that remark.
But would Tucker be an insider to those plans? If he is, how could he let them do this without saying anything? I think it was just a facetious remark on his part. If he knows something then he has to know he is as vulnerable to attack as anyone.

Has he had a stroke?

You can't help wondering what it is that's affecting their thought processes.

8. of course the threat of terror exists
this does not mean that the Bush Admin has demonstrated that they know how to predict or protect the nation from another such attack. In fact, I think that this is a primary failure of the Bush Admin, and instead of Dems "made light of this threat" (a statement I do NOT agree with) it is a matter of evaluating BushCo's policies and suggesting more effective means of protecting our nation. Because BushCo is NOT.

9. Oh, c'mon...
Does anyone really believe that the most paranoid and secretive administration in history is going to let some minor anchorman in on secretive plans to terrorize/bomb their own country?
It's amazing seeing how some people on here read way too much into things.
Odds are it is just another in a long line of stupid partisan statements uttered by a jackass and nothing more.
That, of course, doesn't mean that they may not be planning something. Just that CNN ain't in on it...

12. I thought Begala had the perfect answer, though
To paraphrase him:
"yes the threat of terror is real, but Bush invaded the wrong country!"

Incidentally, Tucker is the smarmiest little right wing creep this side of Hannity, IMO.

13. To those who have misinterpreted
I didn't say it was LIHOP, and the Tucker knew. I said Tucker thinks we're going to get hit. Heck, Cheney said we're going to get hit.

As for having the rhetoric and spin machine primed: Duh! You don't think they have the spin machine primed up for this eventuality?

It doesn't require LIHOP at all.

14. Tucker may be just plain scared. Look who he's allied himself with?
I would be scared, too if I had supported this group of thugs.

16. Republicans control literally eveything in government
and Democrats would be to blame if there's another big attack? Tucker is probably right in that Rove-DeLay-Hastert et al would say something insane like that.

It's so hard to know how the public at large will react to such a thing...and to any finger-pointing that accompanies it.

18. You're making too much
of the idea that Tucker knows something we don't know.

Any fool can figure out that one very good way to shore up the crumbling Bush administration will be to:

1: Publicly stop a terrorist attack

and then

2: Fail to stop one, resulting in either great loss of life or great symbolic damage (think public monument of some kind)

which is then used to rally Americans behind their brave and fearless Commander in Chief.

These people will stop at nothing to stay in power. Assuming a free, fair, and honest election is not a good idea.
