Resist Fascism. Refuse to show your ID to the police.
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 06:28 PM by Zorra
This calls for passive widespread civil disobedience. Every patriotic American that loves freedom should refuse to show identification to police if they have done nothing wrong and are not driving a vehicle, etc.. Personally, I will tell any police officer that approaches me and asks for identification that I have no identification, that my name is Jane Doe, that I am homeless, have done nothing wrong, do not wish to further speak with them, and will ask them to go away and stop harassing me. They can arrest me if they want to, and they can kiss my liberty loving American ass. If we all do this, we will clog the court system to the point where it can no longer function.

We must not be afraid to take non-violent action to send a message that we will no longer allow our liberties to be taken away from us. It is now fully clear that five members of SCOTUS are threats to freedom and the people of the United States.

The government does not have any right to mandate what we carry on our persons. If we choose to not carry ID on our persons, we have that right. It is worth being arrested to protest against this disgusting, nazi-like violation of our civil liberties.

Here is my personal message to the five totalitarianist members of the Supreme Court who voted that free Americans that have not committed any crime must show their papers to police officers that are harassing them for no reason. I hope I make myself clear:

YOU SUCK. FUCK YOU, YOU GOD DAMNED ANTI-AMERICAN LIBERTY HATING NAZI PRICKS

Supreme Court says keeping name private can be crime

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court ruled Monday that people do not have a constitutional right to refuse to tell police their names.

The 5-4 decision frees the government to arrest and punish people who won't cooperate by revealing their identity.

1. As I read it
You have a right to decline to show an ID. You do not have a right to decline to provide your correct name.

7. From what I've heard about the laws here in Texas...
You dont have to show your ID, unless you are driving and pulled over, then you have to show your drivers license, as part of the "priviledge" to drive in Texas. Or if you are carrying a concealed weapon and have a concealed carry permit, if you arent carrying your weapon you dont have to show your ID or permit.

The laws about giving the police your name and info only specifies that you cant give false information to the police. If you did that is a crime.

Not saying anything is not the same as giving false info.

They could detain you and take you to the police station or whatever till they figured out who you are, but they wouldnt be able to charge you with anything just for not speaking. If there isnt anything wrong with you then they would have to let you go.

I personally wouldnt have a problem with giving the police my name, but I wouldnt give them my ID or tell them where I'm going or what I'm doing.

2. Let me guess, it was the same five who...
...subverted the Constitution in Election 2000, right?

12. AWESOME sig pic!!!
It's the best thing I've seen in ages. Oddly enough, it didn't come from Mo'Paul, who's a downright genius for his sardonic yet accurate wit...

I saw the "Supreme" court as being a pack of partisan peckers, though... the clown motif makes them seem as being merely incompetent dunderheads. Which is still true, but their partisan nature makes them far more malevolent than being blissfully incompetent like how * is.

4. I had a run-in
some years back in Fla with a South African tourist. He asked to see my internal passport; I told him, "I don't know about YOUR country, but this is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA-we don't BELIEVE in such things!" That was in 1995, before the Nazis stole the last election.

6. How often have police asked you for ID
when you weren't doing anything wrong, and weren't driving a vehicle? How long do you think you'll have to wait to show your civil disobedience? Do you expect Bush still to be the president? Kerry?

10. Twice that I can recall at the moment, but probably more.
Once a policeman ordered my ex and I out of a town in Tennessee for doing absolutely nothing wrong. He didn't like the way we looked. I said "but.." and he said, "I don't wanna hear no buts. We don't like your kind around here. Now get outta town." We did. Immediately. He was scary.

I also personally know many others that been harrassed by the police and asked for ID, and have been told about other people that have. Totally innocent non-violent people just minding their own business wandering down the road with a backpack on, or just walking down the street in a small town.

This is why I am so livid about this. I have experienced the totally unprovoked abuse of police power on more than one occasion. The police cannot be trusted to act honorably without stringent constitutional protections, not to mention that these protections must be recognized and upheld by uncorrupted courts. Believe me, many law enforcement officials will try to get away with get away with anything and everything they can if they are not prevented from doing so.

The founders of this nation drafted the constitution to protect us from governmental and police abuses.

Five members of the Supreme Court are working as hard as they can to turn this noble document into toilet paper.

I detest them, they are unspeakably vile, corrupt, heinous human beings that would make perfect judges for Hitler. I hope they all either retire on Jan. 20, 2004, or become temporarily ill and resign on that date. I don't want them to be permanently impaired, I just want them to be prevented from furthering endangering our lives and liberties.

They are a serious threat to all of us.

9. Supposedly, the police can only demand you to say your
name if they are involved in an investigation and have reason to believe you might be a suspect. Right. "Officer, are you asking me for my name as part of an investigation"?

More crap as we march toward becoming a police state.

11. In Illinois, if it's a 'Terry stop', ...
... you must provide your correct name and date of birth; you are not required to provide ID.

13. I would immediately request the presence of an attorney and
say that I will cooperate fully when my attorney arrives. At least half the time, if you are on foot and a law enforcement official accosts you and demands to know who you are because of an investigation, he's lying. If you demand an attorney they might back off if they are bluffing.

It is our duty as citizens to insist upon our and protect our rights. If we do not, they will be quickly taken away.
