Image-Conscious Al Qaeda Chats With CNN
Ever notice that CNN regularly quotes Al Qaeda, but our own government can't even find them? CNN is only a news organization, but they've got better snoops than the CIA. Al Qaeda seems to have their own press agent. If CNN can deal with them, why can't our government?

Here's an example of Al Qaeda's effort to groom its public image.

Al Qaeda militants say they were helped by Saudi forces

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (CNN) -- Islamic militants who abducted and beheaded American engineer Paul Johnson say sympathetic Saudi security forces aided their kidnapping operation with police uniforms and vehicles -- an allegation a top Saudi official denied.

1. Yeah I was wondering when someone would catch on to that. It's like
al queda has a full time PR team!

And I love how they have such easy access to the web and ONLY post in some obscure language that we cannot read, SO we have to take CNN's word for it that they're going to (Insert plot here) whatever the crisis du jour is...

Oy.

2. Al Qaeda's PR Team
How does CNN manage to have Al Qaeda on their Rolodex but the CIA can't even find them? It looks like Al Qaeda makes sure that stories about them get a favorable spin. Something doesn't add up when we're told it's impossible to talk to Al Qaeda, but CNN reports their comments on the news of the day.

Maybe Al Qaeda isn't so hard to talk to after all. Maybe we just don't want to hear what they have to say.

4. Can a Logo Be Far Behind?
Soon we'll have the whole package - handouts, a logo, beauty shots of the principals, an annual report, maybe even a mission statement.

. . . from the wonderful folks of Al Qaeda
