Parsing the recommended daily amount of torture? Has it come to that?
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 09:36 PM by theivoryqueen
I am literally listening to discussions about how much torture is okay. Call me old fashioned, but my answer will always be: NONE!!!!!
I am sure most DUers are already aware of most of the gory details, so I will spare you the water-board vs. electrical current debate so prevalent in the news today. Surreal, much?

1. No to torture of any kind on my side. But the repugs have already
gone way past that. They have implemented it and enjoyed every minute of it.

2. Yes, it's come to that.
I was watching "Stalag 17" the other night and just lost it during the scene when the International Red Cross/Geneva Conventions inspector comes to the barracks to make sure all the American prisoners are being treated well. The inspector cautions/reminds several German officers that "once the war is over, you know, there will be war crimes trials" for those who didn't observe the Geneva Conventions.

Wow -- Bush and Rumsfeld are even more clever than the Nazis. They had enough foresight to unsign treaties (I didn't even know that was possible) and to get the UN to exempt American troops from prosecution.

3. I'm with you on that...
...sometimes I can't believe what I am hearing. I have concluded that righteous acts don't need detailed explainations - one knows they are righteous without an explaination. These folks are trying to dig their party out of a hole by justifying despicable actions. If anyone doubted they were evil - this should erase all doubt.
