Did I call it right with Jack Ryan or what?
Many of you will recall that I said that the charges involved group sex, swinging, and coercion. (My source said PHYSICAL coercion, so perhaps I was wrong there.)

Mind you, nothing wrong with being a swinger. I am. But to be a swinger and then run as a Family Values Republican... Well, that's another matter entirely!!!

2. Jack Ryan... The Illinois Senate candidate...
Who was married to actress Jeri Ryan (who played "7 of 9" on Star Trek.)

Is that what you were referring to needing clarification on?

10. Well, here is what came out...
as filtered through NewsRadio 780 and my ears;

Jeri Ryan alleged in child custody proceedings that Jack Ryan coerced her into going to swinger's clubs in Paris, New Orleans, and NYC, including at least one S&M venue, and tried to get her to have sex in front of other people (she says she refused.) She alleges that he got angry when she refused to go along with his demands.

Now, my source would have had them both participating a bit more than the allegations in the papers released today would support, but who knows what the actual truth of the matter is? Jeri Ryan isn't talking, and Jack Ryan says that it is not in the interests of his nine year old son to address these allegations in any way.

3. Not all that different from the stuff that came out about
Blair Hull.

He looked good on paper until it came out that he had hit on of his his ex-wives, and used drugs for a large portion of his adult life.

I know he is a Democrat, but he seemed to me to be trying to look like something he wasn't.

I guess Ryan is toast now. Serves him right, the hypocrite.

Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 12:18 AM by AZDemDist6
too funny that story was,

and for FY if you don't answer, the RW guy (Ryan) running against that great Obama (sp)guy for the Senate, just had his wife (Mrs Ryan) accuse him of coercing her to have sex in public with him at a sex club.....

edit to add this sweet quote

"Our Republican candidate is outstanding," said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee. "I have had him in Nashville to meet my supporters. I have campaigned with him in Chicago and will continue to support him.""

Yes, yes, I know she was some Star Trek babe, but I don't get into that kinda stuff. I could have SWORN she was on Melrose...

At any rate... how can such a lovely woman end up marrying some misogynist Republican POS? Just wondering... And, I'm rooting for her divorce lawyer!! :D

Oh, and benburch... of course there's nothing wrong with "The Lifestyle." As long as the involved parties agree to participate, of course!! Doesn't seem the case with Jack and Jeri...

27. Jen I've seen a lot of this sort of thing.
I have helped run a Chicago-area swinger's club, and I have seen a LOT of couples come through the door where he was far more into it than she was. This is usually NOT the case with the older fellows with the "Trophy" wife, though. Most often, swinging is one of the things that is determined "up front" in such a relationship.

12. LA Judge Delays Release Of Ryan Divorce Documents
LA Judge Delays Release Of Ryan Divorce Documents
Edgar Fields Questions About Ryan

POSTED: 5:55 pm CDT June 21, 2004
UPDATED: 8:22 pm CDT June 21, 2004

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The release of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jack Ryan's controversial divorce documents was delayed Monday afternoon by a judge in Los Angeles.

The records could deliver a powerful blow to Ryan's campaign against Democrat Barack Obama for the U.S. Senate seat being opened by the retirement of Sen. Peter Fitzgerald, R-Ill. At issue are the child custody records from Ryan's 1999 divorce from actress Jeri Lyn Ryan. The divorce records are expected to include potentially embarrassing allegations about Ryan's personal life, Phil Rogers reported for NBC5.
(snip)

During the Republican primary campaign, Ryan's opponents raised the issue of what might be in his divorce records. Some opponents said that the records included information of a sexual nature that was quite inflammatory, Rogers said.

Ryan and his ex-wife successfully kept those records from being released during the primary, saying they wanted to protect their son. But last week, in a lawsuit brought by two Chicago news agencies, a Los Angeles judge agreed to the partial release of some of the documents. Ryan said he would release the records himself at the Hilton and Towers Monday.

Earlier Monday, no sooner than he was named Illinois chairman of President George W. Bush's re-election campaign, former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar was forced to contend with questions about Ryan. Edgar said Ryan called him Sunday night and told him the contents of those records. Edgar declined to repeat what he was told but downplayed its potential to embarrass the party.
(snip/...)

"Three "J's" are in the running as Republican candidates for 2004 U.S. Senate seat - John Cox, Jim Durkin, and Jack Ryan."

20. keep perspective
Hey, I'm all for gloating over some jackass hypocrite, but let's be careful
here. The wingnuts will come out swinging (no pun intended) with crap
like:

"what's your PROBLEM with what he did? you pervert libbrul scum have
been doing stuff like this forever, so why do you have a problem with
what Ryan did?!?!?!?".

To keep perspective:

"wingers, we advocate STAYING THE HELL OUT OF EVERYONE'S
BEDROOM, IT'S *YOU* WHO WANTS IN IT! Ask yer guy Asscroft."

"we wouldn't even bring it UP if he wasn't such a lying, bullshit,
HYPOCRITE running on Family Values, advocating Government
intrusion into people's bedrooms while engaging in activities
his own party despises and wants to criminalize."

and finally, most important, and most difficult to convey to MORANS(sic):

"it's all about CONSENT. if Jeri was INTO it, we WOULDN'T CARE ('cept
about the HYPOCRISY, which is ever present). People can't marry dogs
and donkeys, Santorum, because the animals can't legally CONSENT.
Neither can children. 7 of 9 CAN CONSENT. She DIDN'T."

I get really tired of the right wing with their "we rail against something,
froth at the mouth about it, but when WE get caught doing it, accuse
YOU of being a 'hater' for mentioning it. We want to DESTROY you by
criminalizing behavior we despise (but ALSO engage in), but want NO
repercussions when WE get caught doing the SAME thing!".

Good work if you can get it, I guess.

Bigby

30. Did you see his press conference on PBS last night?
A female journalist laid into him. She kept asking him why he thought the people of Illinois should vote for him when he had this scandal hanging over his head? After the country went through the "Clinton" years, why would they want to go through that again? Why won't you say whether or not this is true and just put it out there. If it's not true why won't you say so? He REFUSED to say whether the accusations were true or not...hint: he's GUILTY! He kept saying the most important thing for him and his wife was to "protect their son." He's talked to all the RWers...Hastert, Fitzgerald and Edgar and they still support him.:eyes: NO DOUBT they have given him advice from the RW scandal book....don't admit anything and this too shall pass. He looked GUILTY AS HELL! Guilty, guilty, guilty! His ego may keep him in this race, but he will NOT win.

Has this been on CNN, MSNBC, ect.....? The same day THIS comes out the Conn. REPUBLICAN resigns from office! BOTH of these stories should be BIG news.

You're not the only person on this site intimately familiar with the "lifestyle" (as much as I still hate that term). ;-)

As a guy, I'm quite comfortable in just being happy to be "along for the ride" while it's more about what my wife wants.
