1. I'm shocked! Shocked that MSNBC would require a Windows player!
No love for the Mac crowd from this partially-Microsoft-owned venture!

4. Better than QuickTime
I can't stand QT. Obnoxious program forces itself onto my startup list.

This is a rare case where a Microshaft program is better than an Apple one.

30. I agree, to a point. MS WMP9 is better for streaming video...
...But QuickTime rules for non-streaming video.

Operating system not supported
MSN Video requires Microsoft Windows® 98, Windows ME,
Windows 2000, or Windows XP.

To upgrade from an earlier version of Windows or to learn more about Windows, go to the Microsoft online store.

--------

I have OS X and the latest version of WMP, but am presented with the above trying to launch either of the video clips on this page. What browser are you using? It doesn't like Safari or even IE here...

Gosh...I'll guess I'll finally convert now. Bill got me...I can't watch Katie Couric re-runs without Bill...I succumb, oh Great Stealer Of Ideas!

2. Wow....GREAT job, Michael.
I'm SO impressed. Seriously, folks, if you haven't seen this, take the time out to look. Moore scores big time with this- he held the media accountable. Couric tries to attack him, and he turned it around on her.

and I have been critical of him in the past with good reason.
I think he has done us a service with this movie and with his spirited attack on the media.

15. I saw Lauer's interview, too.
THAT was bullshit.

I liked Moore's response to his aggression, though, which was exactly what I was thinking- if Lauer had attacked the Bush administration with as much zeal as he attacked Moore, maybe we wouldn't have invaded Iraq.

I quit watching him a long time ago. If attacking others personally seems to be his idea of a hard-hitting journalist, he needs to get a job on Fox.

6. Enough with the "Why Aren't You Fair & Balanced" crap
As the *Republican Noise Machine* points out, the right-wing propaganda machine is hard at work all the time spinning their viewpoint without attempting to see the other side, so GOOD FOR MICHAEL for making no apologies for having a particular viewpoint. He doesn't (nor do we) HAVE to espouse the other side or water down his views in order to accomodate others.

22. I read the drunken Hitchens article (it's in another thread)
He quoted Moore as saying he would refuse any situations where he might face hostile questions.

Another lie among many.

21. If right wingers point to what Hitchens says
about Fahrenheit 9/11, I'd also point them to his review of "The Passion of the Christ," where he says:
"The Passion is anti-Semitic in intention and its director anti-Semitic by nature <...>Apparently seeking to curry favor, Gibson announced a few weeks ago that he had cut the scene where a Jewish mob yells for the blood of Jesus to descend on the heads of its children (a scene that occurs in only one of the four contradictory Gospels). Gibson lied. The scene is still there, spoken in Aramaic. Only the English subtitle has been removed. Propagandists in other countries will be able to subtitle it any way they like. This is all of a piece with the general moral squalor of his project."

11. What is it with the media that they can not see or admit how badly
they have failed?
Couric is no right wing stooge and yet she can not admit that the media has been screwing up.
I guess the big money she gets paid is more important than the truth.

Howard Dean was right, the media needs to be re-regulated.

GE gave all of its news stars its marching orders and anyone who stepped out of line and admited mistakes they would be canned so fast thire desk would be cleaned by the time they were done..
They know they are a joke, they just cant stop cashing those fat checks

17. I just fired off an angry e-mail to the Today Show
Just how desperate was Katie Couric to "score" against Michael Moore that she felt she had to insult the way the man was dressed? It's pathetic how lame the press really is.

20. how often does a news anchor insult a guest's clothes?
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 07:59 AM by Cocoa
or even comment at all?

Couric's comment was totally gratuitious, and unbelievably rude, and the more I think about it, bizarre.

Michael Moore really gets special treatment, doesn't he.

edit: my email to the Today Show:

Dear Today Show,

Katie Couric's comment to Michael Moore, that he "obviously doesn't spend his money on his wardrobe," was bizarre in its rudeness, and in how completely unnecessary the comment was.

I notice in interviews with Moore that he never insults people's clothes, maybe it's because of his own wardrobe. Maybe if Couric dressed more comfortably she would be nicer, maybe her high heels make her nasty.

Thank you,

34. Katie's Lack of Class
Generally when someone is losing a discussion they will resort to making it a personal attack. That is what happened today and for all the money she is paid Katie should have shown more class.

23. If Watergate happened today
Media-whores like Matt Lauer and Katie Couric would have brutally attacked the whistle-blowers as "propagandists" and read letters claiming they were "anti-American" and "should leave the country", and Nixon would have finished two-full terms and nuked Vietnam.

24. How true... I was very unaware of politics at that point in my life.
If the press were then like it is now, I would have never found out about ANYTHING related to Nixon's crookedness. I think that many people (not the RWingers or KoolAiders) are in that situation. Anesthesized and made antagonistic against truth tellers by the corporate media.

27. Couric doesn't understand some basic concepts
Moore makes an obvious point about the WMD lies, and she counters "but the government told us that the WMDs were there."

Did she miss the class in journalism school where they learned that they're supposed to be QUESTIONING the government?

Was she under the impression that she was just there to pass on government statements as facts? That would explain a lot, actually...
