Am I evil for looking forward to June 30, for a silly movie?

June 30 is the day we transfer power to the Iraqis, which will most likely be a messy situation, but it's also the day Spider-Man 2 opens. Now two sides of my personality are wrestling with other. The political activist in me is dreading what will most likely be a bloody mess. And the comics fan in me can't wait to see what will most likely the Best Comic Movie Ever.

I posted a thread like this in the Lounge, but I figured it was worthy of the General board as well. So am I evil for wanting to enjoy something as trivial as a movie on a day when a lot of people my age will die overseas? Or am I redeemed for even thinking about this?

You can't change the fact that our pResident is psychotic. You can't change the fact that basically, the people who are fighting now sometime in their lives chose to enroll to do so. And we can't (at least not now) change the fact that their tours of duty keep getting extended. The only thing we can do is continue to voice our concern and in the next election vote to push those dick heads out of office.

Since there is nothing for you to do other than worrying over the situation, go see the movie. That's what I'm going to do. Michael Moore this week, Spidey next and I can't wait. I think of it as sort of a diversion from the harsh realities of life.
