Anybody see the latest Newsweek (F9/11 article)?
There was an insert "Deconstructing F9/11". Therein they say that the flying of Saudi's out of the country happened AFTER the ban on flight was lifted and they were all interviewed and deemed not a terror threat. It attempts to debunk a couple of the others as well. (I read it in the dentists office and can't find the insert online)

Anybody else see it and can you remember the other couple of "debunkings"?

1. There was a flight during the ban.

St. Petersburg Times

TIA now verifies flight of Saudis
The government has long denied that two days after the 9/11 attacks, the three were allowed to fly.
By JEAN HELLER, Times Staff Writer
Published June 9, 2004

TAMPA - Two days after the Sept. 11 attacks, with most of the nation's air traffic still grounded, a small jet landed at Tampa International Airport, picked up three young Saudi men and left.

The men, one of them thought to be a member of the Saudi royal family, were accompanied by a former FBI agent and a former Tampa police officer on the flight to Lexington, Ky.

The Saudis then took another flight out of the country. The two ex-officers returned to TIA a few hours later on the same plane.

For nearly three years, White House, aviation and law enforcement officials have insisted the flight never took place and have denied published reports and widespread Internet speculation about its purpose.

2. UF is under siege, help me
The site www.right-wingattackmachine.com, is setting up an anti-Michael Moore party in Gainesville near University of Florida. (where I go) The website says it will be, "hosting an impromptu gathering before going and seeing propagandist Michael Moore’s new movie “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

How is this happening on my campus?

4. Notify law enforcement out of an abundance of caution.
And have the press there too.

3. I've got it...
it says 22 of the 26 were interviewed.

Another is "The Bush-bin Laden family connection"
It notes that Both the bin Ladens and the Bush's have "severed ties" with the Carlyle group, that some democrats have ties to the company and that, although it has been claimed that the group profitted from 9/11 because it owns a defense contractor, one of the defense contractor's major weapons systems was cancelled by Bush.

The last is "Bush's initial response to the 9/11 attacks"
Moore shows Bush sit reading to second-graders for 7 minutes in a clip shown in the movie (available on thememoryhole.com, by the way). The article only points out that Bush has explained it by sayign he wanted to "project strength and calm until he could better understand what was happening."

7. Go to the Michael Moore interview on Dateline.
He gives Matt Lauer the numbers that are correct regarding those interviewed. He sets him straight. Newsweek may have to post an apology, Moore has the documentation necessary to back up his film and is willing to do so. I bet he will slam Newsweek - the "journalist" responsible may have biten off more than he can chew.

10. Tell Newsweek now, [letters@newsweek.com]
Before you cancel your subscription to Newsweek, let them know first, why.

5. Let's approach it this way.....
Let's tell them to tell US who was flying on which aircraft and where, when, and why = during the period all other aircraft was grounded.

We paid for those flights - we deserve to know.
We authorized those flights - we deserve to know.
Because we are the government.

Clarke told us how it all got approved.

Now they need to tell US -

Which aircraft? Who? From where? To where ? When? and Why?

Fact-checking Moore's political broadside

http://www.iht.com/bin/print.php?file=525560.html

Viewer finds Moore 'on firm ground'

<snip>

Moore is readying for a conservative counterattack, saying he has created a "war room" to offer an instant response to any assault on the film's credibility. He has retained Chris Lehane, a Democratic Party strategist known as a master of the black art of "oppo," or opposition research, used to discredit detractors. He also hired outside fact-checkers, led by a former general counsel of The New Yorker and a veteran member of that magazine's legendary fact-checking team, to vet the film.

And he is threatening to go one step further, saying he has consulted with lawyers who can bring defamation suits against anyone who maligns the film or damages his reputation. "Any attempts to libel me will be met by force," Moore said. "The most important thing we have is truth on our side. If they persist in telling lies, knowingly telling a lie with malice, then I'll take them to court."

Joanne Doroshow, a public interest lawyer and filmmaker who shared in a 1993 Oscar for documentaries and who joined the fact-checking effort last month, said, "We have gone through every single word of this film - literally every word - and verified its accuracy."

That said, Moore's fact-checkers said they did not view the film as straight reporting. "This is an Op-Ed piece, it's not a news report," said Dev Chatillon, the former general counsel for The New Yorker, adding, "The facts have to be right, yes, but this is an individual's view of current events. And I'm a very firm believer that it is within everybody's right to examine the actions of their government."

12. Regarding the Saudi flights -- they're spinning a half-truth.
There are TWO parts to the Saudi flight business. The FIRST part are the flights that happened INSIDE the U.S. to pick up over 100 scattered members of the Bin Laden and Saudi royal families to bring them to a central location. It is THESE flights that occurred while all other commerical flights were still grounded.

There were NOT just "26" Saudis, there were over 100 involved -- out of which only 22(?) (don't remember exact #) were interviewed.

So, it's true that the Saudis flew out of the U.S. after the flight ban was lifted -- but they were flown inside the U.S. while all other flights were grounded.

The media whores will obfuscate the issues as much as they can, just remember that they will blithely lie through ommission -- leaving out part of the truth, and then attacking what's left.
