Bruce Springsteen to Upstage Bush in New York?
Promoter wants Springsteen vs. Bush

'Concert for Change' would upstage GOP.

New York - A New York concert promoter has mounted an online campaign to 'draft' Bruce Springsteen to headline a rock 'n' roll show to upstage the Republican National Convention on the night it nominates President Bush to run for another term.

1. Great!
Could he get a venue without hassle from Bloomberg, though?

2. If Bruce signed on, I'd bet they could get any big-name act
in the world who'd love to play, too. Think of it...the biggest rockers in the world playing for the dem side of the aisle. It would be massively cool!

4. Hee-Hee...
Put Springsteen just across the river in in his native Joisy and let him sing really loud. That would make Bloomberg and the crew rapt with anger.

Not in competition though, within the convention schedule.

eddie vedder has been a fervent critic of the Bill Clinton and the DLC and strongly backed nader in 2000. while i have no doubt he's not doing so again this time, i'm surprised that the band would endosre the dems so strongly. I'd imagine his support of Kerry is only lukewarm at best.

are you sure on that one?

Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder performs at a rally for Ralph Nader's Green Party presidential campaign at the UIC Pavilion. "I'd just like to thank Ralph Nader and the Green Party for giving people who care something to believe in," Vedder says.
