It is getting harder for me to hold my feelings of anger in.
Partly because of what has happened in my life the last couple of years and partly because of these fucking idiots that we have let have their say at the expense of everybody else. I feel nothing but naked hostility for the right wing. The politicians, the pundits and even those supporters. God it makes me ill. When I went to the Kerry rally on Monday it was raining. I went to the far end under an overhang, where I saw a group of people standing. I just was hanging out there and surveying the area, then I saw some of them come with anti-Kerry/pro-Bush paraphanalia and I walked away in disgust. It is taking every ounce of sanity I have to not loose it with these motherfuckers.

1. You did good.
Confronting while angry is a bad idea. Good for you.

3. I wish I could make you understand...
Exactly how similar I feel.

When I went to the protest March 20th and saw Bush supporters there it took every ounce of restraint not to walk up to one of them and punch them in the face.

All I will say is it will not continue this way forever. too many people are getting to their boiling point's. We won't stand for this much longer.

6. I understand how you feel about punching them.
I feel that way about the politicians themselves. This has to end. Soon. We need to make sure that John Kerry gets in come November. I have so much anger over all this shit.

4. You know the old right wing saying
We're just a bunch of vile liberals.

I understand your anger and I think it is hard for most liberals to keep things under control sometimes these days.

I've been around a lot in my lifetime and I've done a lot of cool things. I've also had my share of heartache and anger. I guess it has mellowed me a lot because anger isn't my first reaction to the right wing. It's usually just sadness. I can't believe how stupid people can be and still hold positions of great power. I think that it's indicative of the type of culture that we are living in.

5. Try to stay busy doing other things
Get a second job, or something. That way your emotions will not overpower you.

7. You did very well................I know it is very very hard
I AM a wee bit tempermental, but since I know it, I try not to put myself into positions that will agitate me unduly.

You sound pretty tense. I got so tense that I had to go to the doctor......really! Then, I took some time off from this board and watching the news constantly--oh, I kept "one eye" on things, but let most of it slide for about a month and a half.

I started a vegie garden--it's growing like crazy! It's so cool. I sit out there and drink my coffee in the morning while the birds and bees do their thing...it's peaceful. I took the time to spend some time with friends and had a couple bbq's...actually got drunk at one function (don't usually drink)... It was a WONDERFUL release from all the political tension and ugliness. I desperately needed that breather..................now, I'M BACK Wooohoooooooo LOL

You are precious, please take care of yourself. Take a little time to just enjoy the sun and some pleasurable activity.....
Peace to you SB

8. Some of that may have to wait until 2005.
I should be in graduate school, maybe have an internship and the U.S. will have a President Kerry. I hope. I will try. I thought about contacting my friend to see if he wants to go to a jazz festival this weekend. I will probably write the email now too.

9. misplaced anger (not yours)
The people who would march with signs like you say make me really poop too- but I think a lot of it is the combo of being misinformed and angry about 9/11 without being able to see the big picture. Unless they're all Fred Phelps-types, I bet that a lot of it is ignorance. Assuming the voting machines are honest, I think JK will kill and hopefully restore the fairness doctrine. Makes me want to start swinging too though.

10. Don't give them the satisfaction of seeing you lose it
I can get angry too. You must talk yourself down from that anger....seriosuly, just straight-up talk yourself down....reason with yourself, there's always a part of you that will respond to reason, no matter what the circumstances.

11. Remember what Vader told Luke:
Release your anger.

Unfortunately, it's still illegal to stone the villige idiots.

But you can spot them from their lack of intelligent countenance, inability to handle the truth and 4 More Years Of Bush bumper stickers.

Stone them anyway.

12. Things I do to keep my sanity:
When I'm feeling pissed, one of the best ways to relieve it is to go grocery shopping. If I'm SUPER pissed, I go to a whole foods co-op...no Republicans in those; it's worth the extra money sometimes. Take your time picking through the produce...savor it. Indulge yourself. If you're vegan, skip the meat...I don't.

Bring your booty home and cook yourself a nice meal. Make a pot of soup, or some guacamole, or a nice black bean salad with fresh squeezed lime and cilantro, a nice big fat hamburger...WHATEVER.

Be glad you are who you are, and remember that there are others like you who feel the same way. Don't let the scumbags drag you down to their level.

Let's just try to use the processes in place; save the violence for another time...and that time may come for all of us.

One more thing: when you see those sub-human pieces of shit with their assinine made-for-idiots slogans, just remember that they are prisoners of their own ignorance and you are FREE.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

16. You know what I think sometimes?
I don't always blame the opposition because they believe the trash they're given by the media and their church leaders. I think sometimes that maybe those elite in power may just want to incite confrontations like this. If this would happen on a grand scale, it would give them reason to instill any type of martial law. What we actually need to do is to #1 get Kerry in and Bush out, #2 vote out neocon congressmen Republican OR Dems if we have to, and then #3 stay on the issues of our benefit and ride our congresspeople until we get what we want. Anything more violent will lead to further suppression and may be leading right into the upper eschalon's hands. So, don't look at those right wingers with anger, look on them with pity because they don't understand the bigger picture. That may derail you from wanting to pop one of them in the mouth!!

Joe Lieberman? Zell Miller?

Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 02:43 AM by holyrollerdem
coming from Indiana and knowing Evan Bayh, I definitely think he is. I also wonder about Gebhardt with his support for the war. Edwards sees justification in the war as well. Even Hillary Clinton voted for the war, too, as well as Kerry. They just would've gone about it in a different way.

Yes, I think Zell Miller and Lieberman are good candidates as well!

There are a lot who are in the good 'ole boys network. That's not to say I wouldn't vote anyone other than Kerry as I think he at least upholds things like better healthcare, veterans benefits, civil rights, the environment and many other Democrat stances. I'm just a little leary about why so many of our Democratic leaders support the war so much. I understand we have interests but I don't advocate corporate world dominance and imperialism over the expense of average human lives in any country.

on edit: I think our Dem leaders are less neoconistic but still they have tendencies. I believe that's why we need to stay on them after they get into their offices. I think there are many unknown insiders who influence the direction of a lot of things that go on in congress and in the White House. Lobbyists, too.

on edit again: Even Bill Clinton advocated NAFTA etc. without considering labor and environmental rights. That kind of bothers me although I loved having him as my president.

21.  We are ruled by the criminally insane...

and their locust-like attack on this planet must be stopped.
The past fifty years have been a gradual awakening for me and I can now see past the "sizzle" of our consumer un-culture. The real world is in the grip of fascism and it's our lot to make a stand here at home, in the belly of the machine. I am disgusted, distressed and just plain pissed at the evil done in my name. All the killer chickens we hatched are coming home with a vengeance and wearing bomb-belts. Allahu Akbar indeed!!! Ain't Karma a bitch?
Where is true leadership to be found??? Will Kerry ever get angry??? Will the Amerikan voter ever wise up??? Is collective redemption possible at this late date???
If we do succeed in electing Kerry, we must make him change course quickly or we are lost.

Apocalypse never, hopefully...
