"Missionary Lizards": Christians hunt dinos to prove THEIR side
Oh My Goddess. Check out these people. They dig up dino bones to prove the dinos perished in Noah's flood. Check the quote from the 13-year-old.

Christian dinosaur hunters dig for signs of Biblical dragons

By Marcus Warren in Keldron, South Dakota
(Filed: 6/19/02)

Countless dinosaur bones lie buried in the rocks of South Dakota but the Christians excavating one remote cliff-face were digging not just for reptilian vertebrae but for the hand of God.

With screwdrivers, hammers and shaving brushes for tools, the group was seeking and, as far as it was concerned, unearthed proof that the animals perished not millions of years ago but in Noah's Flood circa 2300 BC.

Russ McGlenn who runs 'Creationist' dinosaur digs
To these believers in the Bible's literal truth, they are not dinosaurs but "missionary lizards", which are powerful weapons in the battle for young American hearts and minds.

Those certain that God made all living things, dinosaurs included, on Day Six of the Creation, are deploying ever more imaginative tactics in their struggle against schools and universities teaching Darwin's theory of evolution.

... "It's just dumb to believe that everything came from one kind of bang or fish or something," said Katy Carlson, 13, one of the youngest on the dig.

1. Hmmm. They may have a point...
It's obvious that some people definitely aren't evolving.

15. You should go with us on some of the Atheist Fossil Planting excavations
It's loads of fun. We pack the truck up with funny-looking lime sculptures of "dino" skeletons, head out into the wasteland, dig out a "fossil site", put 'em down there wet and bury 'em in real good. Six months later we tip off the paleontologists, and Blammo! Another species is discovered!

Drives the Young Earthers nuts! Really!

5. And I know crackheads who are more in touch with reality.
According to the most recent poll, nearly half of all Americans, 48 per cent, believe in the Book of Genesis's version of our origins. The Creationists fervently hope that number may even be rising.

Evolution is "the dumbest and most dangerous idea in the history of humanity", said Kent Hovind, a vocal enthusiast for the cause who also runs the theme park in Florida. Explaining his Creationist creed, he said: "We think dinosaurs were part of the normal Creation and were just big lizards. Noah took some of them on the Ark, probably babies, when the floods came.

24. They are probably destroying loads of good finds too
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 07:11 AM by Classical_Liberal
. As a amateur archaeologist and anthropologist, I find this pretty gross. It is the destruction of a site by people who can't and won't study it.

BTW, I am also believe in god, and I think these are the most misguided religious people on earth. They poor people they could be helping now, and they waste time trying to prove literal truth in the Bible.

7. Crimony!
When I'm old and gray and lying in a nursing home, being cared for by the next generation, I might as well kiss my Darwinist ass goodbye, cuz I'll be cared for by a bunch of ignoramuses who have been educated in Christian Madrassas!

8. Given there are human records from around
Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 02:04 AM by Djinn
2300 bc you'd think there'd be some mention of massive whopping great lizards roaming around, or p'raps they were just SO prevalent at the time the ancient Greeks/Eygptians/Sumerians etc just didn't bother painting them on tombs/pottery etc

As for "It's just dumb to believe that everything came from one kind of bang or fish or something," said Katy Carlson, 13 she has a point - it's far more beleivable that some bloke managed to get 2 animals from thousands of species onto a wee boat and go for a float while God flooded the world - must have had a hell of time convincing the lions to get on board LOL

There ya go folks, dinosaurs were just big lizards, Noak took some of them (dinosaurs) on the Ark. If that ain't proof... :eyes:

P.S.

I think Religious Fundamentalism is the dumbest and most dangerous idea in the history of humanity, but that's just me.

13. I'd take that one step further...
And I don't want to offend anyone, but.. really..

If you want to talk about the "ideas" that have caused the most wars, killed the most humans, led to the most injustices and oppression, and been used as an excuse for the most brutality.. Well, I think there's a real short list... and right there near the top, if not easily claiming the mantle?

Here's a hint. It starts with a "G" and ends with a "D"..

16. I don't remember who, but someone mentioned this to me...
If the flood wiped out the dinosaurs, and left them buried in sediment that turned them into fossils (in a relatively short period of time), how come there are no fossils of mammals or humans? Wasn't the main point of the flood to wipe out the wicked men, the Watchers (which were angels, not demons), and their Giant offspring? Where are their fossils?

Great Dragon Slayers of the Bible!!!

The komodo dragon is alive today because he's washed in the blood of the lamb! and NOT because he ate one.

Weather got you down? Seems like the rain will never stop? Climb aboard!!! On the Ark, there's never a dull moment! Special rooms to accommodate our more gigantic clientele. Wicked dinos need not apply (this means you Barney)

20. they could participate in the Baptist Creation Science Fair (LINK here!!)
"To that end, the Fellowship Baptist Creation Science Fair was started. Its purpose is to get kids excited about Creation and motivate them to discover the truth of our Lord on their own. The Creation Science Fair is held annually and is open to homeschoolers and students from area Christian schools grades 1 through 12."

2nd Place: "Women Were Designed For Homemaking"
Jonathan Goode (grade 7) applied findings from many fields of science to support his conclusion that God designed women for homemaking: physics shows that women have a lower center of gravity than men, making them more suited to carrying groceries and laundry baskets; biology shows that women were designed to carry un-born babies in their wombs and to feed born babies milk, making them the natural choice for child rearing; social sciences show that the wages for women workers are lower than for normal workers, meaning that they are unable to work as well and thus earn equal pay; and exegetics shows that God created Eve as a companion for Adam, not as a co-worker.

1st Place: "Using Prayer To Microevolve Latent Antibiotic Resistance In Bacteria"
Eileen Hyde and Lynda Morgan (grades 10 & 11) did a project showing how the power of prayer can unlock the latent genes in bacteria, allowing them to microevolve antibiotic resistance. Escherichia coli bacteria cultured in agar filled petri dishes were subjected to the antibiotics tetracycline and chlorotetracycline. The bacteria cultures were divided into two groups, one group (A) received prayer while the other (B) didn't. The prayer was as follows: "Dear Lord, please allow the bacteria in Group A to unlock the antibiotic-resistant genes that You saw fit to give them at the time of Creation. Amen." The process was repeated for five generations, with the prayer being given at the start of each generation. In the end, Group A was significantly more resistant than Group B to both antibiotics.

Are they talking about the bones, or the people digging them up? I bet the real archeologists working out there could really have some fun messing with this bunch.
