Bush said he can "suspend gevena" convention re: torture
Unbelievable. Sorry if this was posted already..

"Administration lawyers argued that terrorists were not entitled to protections of the Geneva Conventions, the series of international treaties that govern the treatment of prisoners of war. President Bush accepted that argument, declaring that detainees from the war in Afghanistan, who were held at the base in Cuba, were “illegal combatants,” not prisoners of war

“I accept the legal conclusion of the attorney general and the Department of Justice that I have the authority under the Constitution to suspend Geneva as between the United States and Afghanistan, but I decline to exercise that authority at this time,” the president said in the memo, titled “Humane Treatment of al-Qaida and Taliban Detainees.”

Ya sure Dubya, you knew nothing of what was really going on

8. Bush suspends The Ten Commandments
and The Golden Rule, the Constitution, Bill of Rights, as well as Newtons Laws. Claiming that he was authorized to do so by the Supreme Intergalactic Federation during a bad acid trip in 1973.

9. Do you really believe this?
titled “Humane Treatment of al-Qaida and Taliban Detainees.”

Let's get this straight.......first there is a leak of information that the DOJ said torture was okay...Bush could "suspend" the Geneva Conventions......then we find that the memos go all the way to the WH and dubya's desk......then we see a memo with the above title coming from Bush agreeing with DOJ but opting not to implement their draconian measures.

How "bushlike" to entitle the document with the exact opposite of the content.

....and....boy oh boy, would I love to see the "edit history" of that document on a computer......my guess is that the most recent "edit" was on MONDAY!
