AZ Nader guy hangs with Republicans
by kos
Wed Jun 23rd, 2004 at 12:11:57 EDT

This (http://www.asu.edu/clubs/yd/blog/2004/06/nader-hater.htm)is choice. The campus Dems at Arizona State University snapped a picture of Nader's Arizona state coordinator:

This is the guy that got kicked out of the Dem Party HQ after pretending to review petition signatures for validity. And what's he doing?

A picture is worth 1,000 words. Click on the picture for a larger version, and you can see the "Nader 2004" shirt he's wearing.
****

Oh, he's going to get his, that putz...

8. Big Deal
So the guy is talking to a republican chick. Big deal. He's clearly not manning the table.

It seems to me the dems would be more productive if they'd start trying to appeal to potential Nader voters instead of vilifying them.

9. How many times will that point be lost in the coming months?
It's like the racism thread. Instead of building ties, we further the divide.

10. Here's why
The Dems cannot appeal to both the extreme left wing and the moderates/independents at the same time. Appeasing one pisses off the other. And since there are millions more moderates than extreme lefties, the moderates get the cake during the campaign season. The Dems MUST appeal to moderates to beat Bush. If Kerry took a sharp left turn to appeal to the 2% that are going to vote Nader, he would lose the 30% of moderates that he needs in order to win. Not gonna happen.

Now, after Kerry's in the WH, yes definitely I say take that left turn. But not until then.

But, then again, I like winning.

11. Fill me in
What positions does Nader hold that you think are too extreme left for the democrats?

15. Not for the Democrats, for the voting moderates
I think there are several positions of Nader's that would be too left for voting moderates. Most of his ideas would grow government even bigger and many moderates are strongly against that. His tax plan is also more radical than Kerry's and moderates wouldn't support that. Legalization of drugs. Reducing voting age to 16. These are just the ones off the top of my head, I'm sure if I went to his site I could get more.

Yes, it sucks that we can't please everyone, but I think for the campaign trail Kerry does need to appeal to the moderates/centrists. KWIM?

20. Yes, I KWYM
And you answered my question directly. There are indeed Nader positions that are out of the "mainstream" for now. None the less, I think the dems could (if not must) make a concerted effort to trumpet some of the more progressive causes a Kerry presidency would advance in order to win over potential Nader voters. And I think it could be done without alienating the precious muddle.

21. so you are against some of Kerry's plans as well?
Kerry's universal health coverage will definitely grow government so you must be against him as well?

Get something straight anyway...there are moderate republicans who despise Bush, there are photos of political gathering in which all sorts of people are seen talking together, that is simply political reality. The neocons here at DU use the feeblest of excuses to bash Nader ,regardless of the truth of any of their words.

Nader has , in his organization, both Repugs and Dem's, Indies and Greens, in fact that group is far more egalitarian than is the current democratic party, censored as it is by the neocon DLC.

That guy is apparently a staffer with Nader not his AZ coordinator.

Stated in the comments section of the Kos article.
