3. Why are they drilling at Times Square?

The problem is at Herald Square.

Protestors plus commuters plus back-to-school shoppers and retailers plus corporate business people plus armed National Guard troops who have been in Penn Station since 9/11.

None of this looks good.

6. hit and run protests

going to be all over city. Last feb, after the east-side debacle, a semi-spontaneous event occured at Times Square. Thats when they pulled out the heavy shit. They were not going to cede times square, now way no how. same will apply for RNC. I imagine the NYPD has established no-go zones. accordingly, they will have also established exit lanes, to funnel protestors in a pre-determined direction.
