My Rant About The Media (Never Forget)
I blame all of what is happening to us in this country on the mainstream media. Michael Moore said it best when he was interviewed by Katy Couric on the Today show the other day. He basically said if you (meaning NBC News and the other major news organizations) had been doing your job, we wouldn't be in this mess in Iraq. Moore went on to say that the media is supposed to protect us from politicians and others who want to do us harm. And they have failed us miserably. I am sick to my stomach with these whores who dare call themselves journalists, day after day regurgitating to us the litany of talking points scripted and handed over to them by The White House Minister of Propoganda and his minions, without reservation or question or the slightest bit of investigation. Hell this shit is worse than having Pravda as your source of news and information.

I am now convinced that the only way the media will do their job is if a smoking gun (still smoking) is handed to them on a silver platter. We must all hope and pray that this will happen and soon! And if it should, then I for one will write to everyone of these son of a bitch so-called news organizations and tell them I hold them compliclit in the crimes committed by the felons they have so loyally propped up. Too bad the law doesn't allow for criminal indictments for such actions. We could fill an entire prison with these bastards.

1. I didn't see that interview
How did Katie Couric respond to that criticism? She's been capable of being a pitbull in the past. I remember her ambush interview of Bush I.

4. Too bad you missed it - it was classic
Moore had Couric literally cowering in her seat. She was on the defensive from the get go. It started when Couric echoed the talking point given to her that Moore's movie was done strictly for political purposes. This just opened the door for Moore to rant on about how the media has failed to do their job. One line I thought was great was when Moore recalled the Cuban Missile Crisis back in 1962. Moore said that he remembered all too well how President Kennedy went to the nation with aerial pictures of the the missiles lined up in Cuba. He contrasted this with the bullshit evidence that Colin Powell presented to the United Nations.

3. Not sure the Imperial Pravda Whores would even run with THAT
"What smoking gun?"

"If we ignore it long enough, it will stop smoking and then Uncle Karl can cart it away."

7. c'mon now
Pravda? We ain't seen anything like Pravda. You get what you pay for and to some extent, the public allows the media to behave the way it does, with filler news and no teeth. Thank God for Michael Moore though, he should be taking them to task. But the public should demand better than it does, as well.

12. We WON'T EVER see the ham-fisted Pravda style here in the Empire, yes
The Bush Psychomanipulators, Psyops, and Mockingbirds (not to mention Uncle Karl) are too savvy to be that obvious.

Now THAT would wake some people up.

But it's not like that. Our Pravda, being Amerikan Pravda and 25 years later, will be in the end uniquely our own.

You are correct, tigereye.

And yet you missed the point.

If you wait for us to rersemble Totalitarianisms past, then you will have a LONG wait.

That would be bad marketing Strategy.

6. When I meet people,
I don't judge, I treat everybody the same. But when I see some of the media people on TV or read some of the propaganda they write, I think, "These are some of the lowest people I have ever seen."

How could they sell out our country like this?

9. And another thing -- "Never forget" is right
They have lost so much credibility. If I live 60 more years to age 101, I will never forget this betrayal. More and more people will feel the same way.

Lying and dishonesty might seem like good business to them right now, but it is always bad business in the end. They will pay for it in some way.

10. Well said!!!!!
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I no longer watch any news channel. The have added and abetted. They are supposed to tell it like it is and they have FAILED MISERABLY. I am so disgusted with them. Thank God I didn't get my degree in journalism like I almost did. I heard recently that a survey had been done and journalists are considered the least respected profession of all - including lawyers and politicians. I agree about a smoking gun. I have fantasies that a recording will pop up somewhere that will TOTALLY incriminate Bush and his gang...but then look at the Enron tapes. We heard about it for a couple of days and then NOTHING...and I live in California. Which brings me to another point. MANY, MANY Americans just don't give a shit. It's shocking. You'd think that hearing about what Enron did to us in 2001 would send people protesting in the streets but it seemed like people's feathers were barely ruffled. My biggest question is: "why don't people care? Even when it them being effected? Sounds like a great thesis paper for a doctoral student!

Propaganda is free...News, you must pay for..

Has anyone else noticed this trend?? In days past, the "news" people would routinely fact-check, and present all possible sides of news events.. Sometimes, it was difficult to determine just how you felt about an issue, or a story, because you had heard many interpretations..

These days, the "news" is so santiized and parsed, that there is little left of it that makes any real sense.. The "fluff" stuff is analyzed six ways to sunday, and the really important items are sometimes viewed as a crawl and never seen again, or referred to obliquely..

The very reason that michael Moore felt compelled to make his movie, or that Joe Wilson had to write his book, is that the people who are RESPONSIBLE for informing the public...have NOT..

They even take a "tone" when they "have" to report about the books or movies or documentaries.. It's a "How DARE they" tone...one that shows they are pissed that ANYONE would dare to criticize their reportage..

This is what it's come to.. The "corporate media" will only report what "serves" them and their stockholders, and if the public wants to know "the other side of the story", they must PAY for it.(and wait for it)..

The things that are being brought out (finally) are all things that SHOULD have been reported AGES ago.. The very MESS that we find ourselves mired in, is a DIRECT RESULT of the various media NOT DOING THEIR JOBS.. If the media had "vetted" Bush, and really explored the issues that were present in 2000, we would NOT be where we are today..

The most ridiculous thing you can see today is when the (so called) news channels limit their "guests" to 15 second soundbytes, and routinely goad them into "pretend fights" with each other.. It is vaguely reminiscent of cock fighting ..

They have no reason to exist, if not to present the "news", yet they never seem to "have the time".. When a 24 hour "news venue" has no time to discuss or present the news, can they really call themselves a "news station"?...

We have all been HAD...big time.. Ken and Barbie (and their little pals) sit in their dreamhouse, and read "stories" to us, while they yuk it up to each other, and we are supposed to accept what they tell us, as fact.. If we complain, we are "unpatriotic" or are "whiners"..

It's only a matter of life and death...liberty or enslavement..

What's the big deal???
