Ron Reagan, Jr. "I am not a Republican"
An athiest, non-Republican, pro stem cell research, who will vote for any viable candidate who can beat Bush....

Bring it on, fundies, time to vilify yet another outspoken "libby".

3. and he is nobody WITH his name
that's the beauty. He's not trying to be anybody. He is just very honest and very well spoken.

5. Yeah, but a guy with that same description .....
...is occupying the White House right now. (Not that I'm trying to insult Ron Jr by comparing him to that fucking piece of shit, of course)

9.  I'm Ronald Prescott Reagan. He was Ronald Wilson Reagan
He is a great guy - with or without the "name"...he didn't choose the name, doesn't use the name...but you better believe he'll defend the name from Freepers and Repukes and Bushies who try to wrap themselves in the name....

4. True....
I don't think he'll sway many Repubs, but wouldn't it be ironic if the Reagans became a powerhouse political family in the DEMOCRATIC party?

6. Frankly, it would make me ill.
:puke:

He is not going to win over Republicans because everyone knows he was NEVER a puke. In fact, it was almost common knowledge during the 80s that Ron Jr, was gay! Of course, that was incorrect (like most "common knowledge"), but I remember everyone thinking this because he was trying to become a professional ballet dancer.

I don't know about any of you, but I distinctly remember no one confusing Ron Jr. with his dad.

Let the Reagan name fade into the past!

8. He doesn't WANT to go into politics ...
... because he likes being able to say what he thinks without the usual consequences. Also, he admits he's an atheist, and knows an atheist can't get elected to high office right now in this goofy country.

As is, he can do his dog-show commentary and do his hilarious political color reports for MSNBC, and work with the nonprofit arts organization he mentioned on Larry King tonight, and just enjoy his life in Seattle with his wife and three cats.

As I've said before, I fell in love with the guy when he did the "Risky Business" dance in his underwear, on Saturday Night Live, while his father was in the White House. Too cool. I love him still! He's living proof that the same-named son-of-a-president doesn't have to be a total braying JACKASS!!!! Like YOU KNOW WHO!

10. I agree. I did enjoy his SNL appearance.
It's not like he wrote the skit, but hey, he was an awesome sport about it and performed well.

I dig that. That's fine. What irks me are the people who want to put him at the top of the Democratic ticket (or read too much into his politics) simply to spite pukes. That's just an insult to Democratic leaders who worked their entire lives, sometimes from nothing, to have their voice heard.

13. You're right about what you remember being one of age. However..
did you see all those young people standing in line for hours to view Reagan's casket? A lot of them were babies or not yet born when Reagan was in office.

You're right. Ron Reagan is not likely to influence anyone who was of age when Reagan was president. But there are millions of voters who were not of age who are being brainwashed into believing the Reagan hype. Let RPR speak to THOSE people.

7. He's not a Democrat either
I suspect he's to the left of the mainstream Democratic Party.
