I switched from Wal-Mart to Albertson's
A while ago I asked you all what you'd do if you were me in this position. I'm a college student with limited funds to spend on groceries and the closest place to me of course was Wal-Mart.

Well I now shop at Albertson's oddly enough I never noticed, but it's right near that Wal-Mart that I used to go to.

Interestingly I've noticed with their savings card most of the things I get are actually the same if not cheaper than Wal-Mart, and their produce is of much higher quality.

Truthfully I didn't make this switch for political reasons (although they're around the 2nd or 3rd reason) but mainly I just can't stand the obnoxious hicks that can be found in the hundreds with their 12 kids screaming and running around everywhere.

Now that I'm gone, I bet you'll never see another car with a Kerry sticker in that particular wal-mart parking lot as well heh.

So despite the fact that on some items I may pay a bit more (we're talking as little a dollar or less difference) to me it's a small price to pay to finally be able to grocery shop in peace at a real grocery store.

1. Jeesus, what the fuck is it with these hicks and Walmart?
It's a real turnoff. Target has sooo much more class. So does Kresgies. Walmart appeals to the mentality of human cattle.

2. Albertsons is great
I shop there all the time. And they do have great deals with their preferred card.

3. I boycotted Walmart years ago.
I try to shop at smaller outets, especially small businesses. Walmart wipes out small-town Mainstreet small businesses in one swoop. Screw Walmart...and the horse they road in on!

4. Let me ruin your Albertson's experience by asking
Aren't they owned by or at least partly by the Mormon Church, which is very conservative?

For some people they may not be bothered by that, and that's fine, but I have special reasons to dislike Mormons - they've woken me up three times from weekend naps by knocking on my damn door. :)

But I have yet to run into any Mormons that have had the gall to bash my being Catholic to my face.

Plus one of the members of my team for this school project that I'm doing is Mormon and although he's very conservative he's a good guy and keeps it to himself (i.e. doesn't go around preaching that we're all wrong and he's right) and I can always depend on him to do his part and be a loyal team member.

I've had the doorstep visits from Mormons as well, but they go away after I politely make it clear that I'm not interested. I haven't had one of those visits though in years, can't even remember the last time (I'm in Tucson Az btw)

7. Ok then here's what you do
I am going to guess you're a female from your name. The next time they knock at your door, answer it topless and wave a big HELLO!

You will probably blind them and I assure you they will never visit you again. ;-)

8. Actually I'm a male
Tlaloc was the Aztec god of water and rain, and W is the first letter of my last name.

What I've done since then is put up a sign on the door with a graphic showing a man in a suit and a woman in a dress-suit holding a bible. Around them is a circle with a slash through it and below it are the words, "NO SOLICITORS."

I then list off several examples of solicitors (because some people don't know what that means), and the last one is, "People who want to tell me why their religion is better than mine." I have an asterisk by that one and at the bottom of the sign in smaller type is this:

* Jehovah Witnesses willing to talk about Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (concerning false prophets) in connection with certain end of the world predictions made by your church's elders are exempt.
** Mormons pretending to be Jehovah Witnesses will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I haven't been bothered since, but I MUST BE AVENGED! :)

Just last week, some guy came up to my door and then walked away giving me a dirty look - I was in my office with the blinds up, and it faces out into the yard. He saw me and wanted to make his displeasure known. I smiled and waved.

9. Hmm well for a guy who demands revenge
You're a hell of alot more peaceful than me. Maybe it's the NY in me, but I would've chased that guy right down and asked him what the hell his problem was and where he gets off comin up to my window making like he's gonna intimidate me.

Alright let's see....revenge....well okay this maybe isn't the most PC thing, but have you seen Rush Hour 2? act like you're a homosexual, I mean the obnoxious stereotype like John Savage did.

I'd pay to see that.

11. Well...
I usually see them coming...When I do I quickly hit the CD player with a Slayer CD and turn it up...then I open the door with "Angel of Death" playing in the back ground...

Works like a charm...

12. Sounds Like What I have on my door...
Which is one of these.

And I still get 'em, every once in a while.

16. That's it exactly
I just added some text to make sure all solicitors stayed away. Only one who dated knock was a teenage boy scout, and I asked him if he could read. He said, "But 'Boy Scout' wasn't listed!" No, but it says "NO SOLICITORS." I just listed a few examples.

17. You Sound...
Just like me, man. I've got both signs on my door, too, and people still ring the bell. I often work at night, so needless to say I'm real happy when someone wakes me up to try to sell me on "the good news"

Plus, as I get older I'm becoming more and more resentful of unasked-for intrusions.

Possibly the problem, as you mentioned before, is that you list examples- so anyone who isn't on the list might think they're exempt. Maybe what you want is just the "No Solicitors" with another sign underneath it that says "THIS MEANS YOU".

18. What it says is
NO SOLICITORS
This includes BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO

Girl Scout Cookie Sellers
Home Security Salespeople
Paper Deliverers
And especially anyone wanting to tell me why their religion is better than mine

If right now you're thinking that you're different, and I'll be happy to see you and listen to what you're selling... YOU'RE WRONG.

----------------------

Actually, I'm a fairly social person, but I only really want friends and family over at my house, and I don't like being disturbed by salespeople at the door or on the phone.

15. Costco is the best!
The Brooklyn one is like a second home to me. I stock up on meat and bulk items there every other month or so. Their milk is also the cheapest that I've seen (milk here in NY is sky high).

Plus, and this is the best part, they are really good to their workers! Costco cashiers make the highest wages in retail and they get benefits. As someone that has been a retail monkey for quite a while this means a lot to me.

14. Good for you!
All of Walmarts meats are injected with saline solution too, so you are paying extra for more sodium and less meat.
