I am sorry - Winger chain email
Yes, my father is sending off more Winger BS... this one is actually really sad....

<start>

For good and ill, the Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue. On the one hand, right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions while on the other hand, political glee will take control and fashion this minor event into some modern day My Lai massacre.

I heard some Arabs are asking for an apology. I humbly offer mine here:

I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims
(Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.).

I am sorry that no such call for an apology upon the extremists came after 9/11.

I am sorry that all of the murderers on 9/11 were Arabs.

I am sorry that Arabs have to live in squalor under savage dictatorships.

I am sorry that their leaders squander their wealth.

I am sorry that their governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools.

I am sorry that Yasir Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and highjacked the Palestinian "cause."

I am sorry that no other Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of financial help to those same Palestinians.

I am sorry that the USA has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the USA.

I am sorry that our own left wing elite and our media can't understand any of this.

I am sorry the United Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the "food for oil" money so they could get rich while the common folk suffered.

I am sorry that some Arab governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their death.

I am sorry that those same bombers are seeking 72 virgins? I can't seem to find one here on Earth.

I am sorry that the homicide bombers think babies are a legitimate target.

I am sorry that our troops died to free more Arabs.

I am sorry they stopped the gang rape rooms and the filling of mass graves of dissidents.

I am sorry they show so much restraint when their brothers in arms are killed.

I am sorry that Muslim extremists have killed more Arabs than any other group.

I am sorry that foreign trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return it to a terrorist state.

I am sorry we don't drop a few dozen Daisy cutters on Fallujah.

I am sorry every time terrorists hide they find a convenient "Holy Site."

I am sorry they didn't apologize for driving a jet into the World Trade Center that collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - one of our Holy Sites.

I am sorry they didn't apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, etc.

I am sorry Michael Moore is American; he could feed a medium sized village in Africa.

I am sorry the French are French?

America will get past this latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is what we do. We hang out our dirty laundry for all the world to see. We move on. That's one of the reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all those Arab countries that are now demanding an apology.

Deep down inside, when most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like -- so what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners.

Sure, it was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're supposed to wring our hands because a few were humiliated? Our compassion is tempered with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating Fallujans.

If you want an apology from this American, you're going to have a long wait. You have a better chance of finding those 72 virgins.

If you are "sorry" also, pass it on! If you are not sorry then why not move to an Arab country?

...point out to your dad that the dictatorships he is reailing against are the same ones we are directly, or indirectly, responsible for being in place.

<on edit>

Also point out that the "making fun of a few prisoners" included beating some to death with big sticks, are a direct violation of not only International Law, but also US law.

You might also ask him "aren't we supposed to be better than that?"

6. falls on deaf ears I am afraid
my parents are so in denial over this ass of a man, * could chop their arms off and my parents would still suck his ass. Example of our conversations...

Me: Mom what is it that you like about *.

Mom: EVERYTHING!

Me: WHat has he done for you?

Mom: EVERYTHING, at least he hasn't lied to us....

Me: Well what did you not like about BC?

Mom: EVERYTHING!

Yes, they are programmed.

9. Try a less direct approach.
Prehaps a word here, a news stroy there. Probably a lost cause but you never know. You might even let drop that all the crap they tried to pin on Bill was dropped after Bush got elected. I think they actually exonerated him of it. Maybe someone has a link to that.

11. I tried that
they don't read em, and when I push it on them i get...

"I don't like your spin, where are you getting your information from?"

Other dismissals are Liberal Media, blah, blah, blah...

She worships Insannity and my dad was/is a Rush listener. My parents are divorced, so it is a two home fronts for me to defend....

17. My monthly exhange with freeper co-worker
She always starts out with a snarky comment about BC, and I always stop her dead in her tracks by reminding her that BC isn't running for anything and isn't involved in national policymaking.

Then she moves on to some ad hominem comment (NEVER policy related) about JK or THK. I remind her that THK isn't running for anything either, and I'm only interested in discussions about policy.

Me: Instead of attacking John Kerry, why don't you try defending Bush and his policies?

She: Because you won't listen. Your mind is closed.

Me: I'm sitting here, aren't I? Give it to me. Tell me one good thing Bush has done for this country.

She: Well, do you think Al Gore could do a better job?

Me (patiently): Al Gore isn't running for anything. Let's just talk about Bush and his policies, OK? Tell me what Bush has done that in your opinion is so great.

She: No way. You have a closed mind. I can't talk to you.

Me: You can't defend your man because he's INDEFENSIBLE.

She: See? You have a closed mind.

My closed mind then exploded, obviously due to the pressure buildup.

4. well, you can start by saying
that most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis. The Saudis are the center of the Madras' that teach the children to hate America, Israel & the West... yet, instead of invading Saudi Arabia in response, we invaded a non-Arab country in Afghanistan, whose leadership had offered to hand over Osama bin Laden to us before the invasion ever started. While the Taliban were bad and treated women poorly, the Saudis are just as bad, treat women just as poorly and have a heck of a lot more money than the Taliban - plus, they have their US trained Saudi Royal National Guard to protect them!

12. The last 7 conflicts?!
Where the hell is the "Last 7 conflicts were defending Muslims" bullshit coming from?

Let's take a look at the last big 7:

Kosovo - Serbians, not muslims

Persian Gulf - We'll be nice, Kuwait is mostly muslim

Grenada - Last time I checked, there weren't many muslims here

Vietnam - Now it's just getting nuts

KOREA? - Yeah, those South Koreans pray five times a day

World War II - Damn that Hitler! And how he exterminated the... uh... muslims?

World War I - Do I need to go on?

Tell the sonuvabitch that sends these to you this simple explanation:

War isnt battle alone! War is propoganda and battle mixed together! Why do you want us to allow this propoganda to hurt America? Admit it, YOU HATE AMERICA!

You Blame America First Conservatives make me sick.

Does this mean that after thirty years conservatives are actually willing to admit there WAS a massacre at My Lai, that it wasn't just "communist propaganda" or "liberal media bias"?

Of course, if it took them this long to accept THAT, maybe they ought to shut up about this lest it take them a few more decades to decide it really is a Bad Thing.
