1. Why were there two
Democrats there? Why were they mentioned first in the article? I think we have a right to know the entire list of attendees, given this was held in a public building.

5. Yeah, I noticed that
the corporate press is finally covering this story three months later but with a decidely negative spin upon only the Democratic participants. Both parties were there and ALL those who attended this farce should suffer a backlash.

8. Moon's courtship of Christian leaders
Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 08:30 AM by doni_georgia
Here are some of the Republicans there according to the LA Times:
The gathering was politically ecumenical. In addition to Davis, Republican Sen. Norm Coleman of Minnesota was there, as were conservative firebrands like Reps. Roscoe G. Bartlett (R-Md.) and Curt Weldon (R-Pa.). http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/editorials/la-ed-moon24jun24,1,3551939.story?coll=la-news-comment-editorials

Moon has founded a group called the ACLC (American Clergy Leadership Council). It is primarily made up of African American Christian ministers. You cannot believe how many "Christian" ministers are part of this group, and their parishoners have no idea that this group is founded and operated by someone who claims to be the Messiah. Pastors in this group refer to Moon and his wife as "true father and true mother." These pastors are buying the Moonie doctrine, but they do not let their church members know this. Moon is focusing a lot of energy and financial resources in the African American community (through churches). With his political agenda, you can be sure that this effort is in attempt to pull African Americans away from the Democratic party.

9. Someone's covering it
The film footage was on CBS News last night. They mentioned that "Congressmen present have said they didn't know what the ceremony was beforehand." There was no mention of who authorized the use of the government building, who sent out the invitations, or who set up the whole elaborate farce.

I sincerely hope the leftwing folks with access to paper trails in DC do some digging and find out just who set this thing up. We need to know, and to make sure this sack of crap gets the boot.

I can understand that some of the people invited probably didn't know beforehand. After all, a free lunch is a free lunch. However, they were undoubtedly invited for their babble thumper credentials, and bear watching.

We just need to know who organized it.

4. Here's the New York Times Article
Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 08:17 AM by doni_georgia

WASHINGTON, June 23 - As a shining symbol of democracy, the United States capital is not ordinarily a place where coronations occur. So news that the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the eccentric and exceedingly wealthy Korean-born businessman, donned a crown in a Senate office building and declared himself the Messiah while members of Congress watched is causing a bit of a stir.

continued . . .
"I remember the king and queen thing,'' said Representative Roscoe G. Bartlett, Republican of Maryland, "But we have the king and queen of the prom, the king and queen of 4-H, the Mardi Gras and all sorts of other things. I had no idea what he was king of.''

Oops, forgot link again

7. Aaron Brown did a pretty good job
he covered the "ceremony" with tongue in cheek...mentioned the Dem Congressman from Illinois but also gave him time to defend himself. He did mention the repub who was there.

Interesting though...........he said that the room in the Senate Office Building can only be reserved if a Senator signs for it and the staff refused to show the reporters WHICH Senator signed for it.

I'd really like to see that..........
