Rosemi does Bill: A reader's daily chronicle
Fun little blog this woman is doing with us at Blue Lemur: http://www.bluelemur.com/

The excitement in the news over Bill Clinton’s hefty book, My Life, was primarily centered on the part describing his Lewinsky affair. Since my life is full of raunchy rendezvous, I was interested in reading his book for purely political purposes. At least, that’s what I’m telling my friends.

Determined to figure out what the former president can go on about for 957 pages, I quickly learned that he could go on about anything. He needlessly mentions his fascinating ability to remember every minute detail of his life. Chapter four begins: “In the summer after my first-grade year.” First grade! That would make him six years old after three chapters. He does jump around more than astronauts in zero gravity, but it gave me the feeling that he was sitting with me … rambling incessantly.

His matter-of-fact way of telling a story did provide moments of sincere sentimentality that cracked through my cynical exterior and made me a bit misty. Soon, I started seeing the book as a crystal ball.

I chanted: “Show me the great future oh mighty, voluminous book!”

The book spit out a story of a young Clinton who, after being swarmed by bumblebees and escaping without a single sting, returned to the bumblebees where they proceeded to sting him silly.

I chanted again.

The book opened to parts where Clinton discusses how the old men in his hometown “fascinated” youngsters with stories about fruit, namely watermelon.
