It has begun
Just watched Hardball. The GOP spokesman referred to Kerry's supporters as "wild eyed".

It will be repeated tonight on O'Reilly, then on Hannity and Colmes.

That will take us to tomorrow morning. Neal Boortz will lend his support. Then Rush. Then Hannity.

Bunch of fucking idiots.

20. Same here...
.... this and the "Nazi" ad are indications of extreme desparation. They are going to throw anything and everything at the wall and see if it sticks.

The farther out they go, the more people see their bullshit for what it is, see the media as their tools, and their support erodes further.

Isn't it delicious :)

When they start with accusations of wild-eyed,
When they say Gore has gone off his meds, because he's outraged, it is a sign that the right is worried. They know that many people in these United States are rightously pissed off at them.
The red-baiting has already begun, charges of treason, Mike Moore is aiding the enemy etc. etc. All signs of desparation.

42. propaganda techniques from the psyops manual
radio name calling & repitition?

--snip--
Name Calling or Substitutions of Names or Moral Labels. This technique attempts to arouse prejudices in an audience by labeling the object of the propaganda campaign as something the target audience fears, hates, loathes, or finds undesirable.
Types of name calling:
-Direct name calling is used when the audience is sympathetic or neutral. It is a simple, straightforward attack on an opponent or opposing idea.
-Indirect name calling is used when direct name calling would antagonize the audience. It is a label for the degree of attack between direct name calling and insinuation. Sarcasm and ridicule are employed with this technique.
-Cartoons, illustrations, and photographs are used in name calling, often with deadly effect.

--snip--
REPETITION

An idea or position is repeated in an attempt to elicit an almost automatic response from the audience or to reinforce an audience's opinion or attitude. This technique is extremely valid and useful because the human being is basically a creature of habit and develops skills and values by repetition (like walking, talking, code of ethics, etc.). An idea or position may be repeated many times in one message or in many messages. The intent is the same in both instances, namely, to elicit an immediate response or to reinforce an opinion or attitude.
The audience is not familiar with the details of the threat posed. Ignorance of the details can be used to pose a threat and build fear.

Members of the audience are self-centered.

The target can take immediate action to execute simple, specific instructions.
--snip--

and dick cheney's profane language?
--snip--
Plain Folks or Common Man: The "plain folks" or "common man" approach attempts to convince the audience that the propagandist's positions reflect the common sense of the people. It is designed to win the confidence of the audience by communicating in the common manner and style of the audience. Propagandists use ordinary language and mannerisms (and clothes in face-to-face and audiovisual communications) in attempting to identify their point of view with that of the average person. With the plain folks device, the propagandist can win the confidence of persons who resent or distrust foreign sounding, intellectual speech, words, or mannerisms.

If they try to tar Kerry with this brush, it's going to fizzle completely. It just doesn't jive with people's perceptions of John Kerry.

Think about it: what's the most oft-heard criticism of JK? That he's a boring speaker. That he's not terribly passionate in his delivery. So the right wing media chorus now wants to come out and say Kerry supporters (note, not Kerry himself) are unhinged wild-eyed maniacs? Uh, okay. Whatever. Seems pretty pathetic to me.

Actually, I think what they're trying to do is pre-empt Kerry from getting forceful and passionate in his denunciations of the regime. Because the minute he does, it fits in neatly to the right-wing media's predetermined storyline. The lazy press whores just love their predetermined storylines (cf. "This is just another of Gore's bizarre exaggerations!"). Saves them the trouble of critical thinking, analysis, coverage of the issues. You know, all that stuff our wonderful "journalists" can't be bothered with these days.

*sigh*

ON EDIT: I console myself by noting that this was on Hardball. I think it's really important to keep in mind that only a tiny tiny fraction of the public watches these MSNBC, FOX, CNN whorefests. IIRC, about 300,000 people watch Hardball at any given time. Whereas the nightly network news shows get about 30 MILLION viewers.

63. "Doctor, my eyes"
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 01:29 PM by DesertedRose
Wild-eyed, bushy-tailed (and proud of it) DR reporting from the purple state of NM.

(Think "spongmonkey," they're wild-eyed.)

Can't WAIT to see F/9-11 this weekend. Ha!

64. What a bunch of horses asses
We have to use jujitsu and turn it around on them. Embrace our wild eyedness. Wear wild eyed t-shirts and ridicule them for their stupidity. It's so transparent! They're all saying the same thing! God I wish somebody would just say to them "shut up you bunch of ignorant assholes!"

We are as "wild-eyed" as the Jews when they finally realized what Hitler was up to.

(I believe) Michael Savage who has claimed everyday on Clear Channel radio for the last 2 years that liberals are clinicly insane and need to be arrested en masse for sedition.

70. Kerry's so subdued, it'll hard to make that stick.
Gore isn't running, so that doesn't matter. Dean isn't running, so that doesn't matter.

Sounds like to me they're getting desperate.
