Back from Hunting of the President + Q&A with Joe Conason
..... Enough said, there were applause at the end.
Joe Conason  asked us if we liked the movie - and since we did, please tell our friends. The questions followed - and there were all great.
My favorite answer is the one that gave the title of this. Answering a quesrion about Clinton, Conason said: "He is in this story like the Maltese Falcon - ties it all up, but the story is not about him, but about the people who tried to get him.
He told us he didn't write the script, but all the interviews in the movie were done by Gene Lyons and him.
They had had trouble getting actual news footage from the networks - for the obvious reasons.
Asked if Clinton liked the movie, he told us he attended the premiere and just today gave him an interview for Salon and told him he did.
You'd be surprised to find out who else liked it. More....

2. will this movie have wide distribution?
It's next up for me after I see F911 tomorrow, even if I have to travel into NY/Angelika to see it.

Which speaking of--I have not seen since the day it opened some 20-odd years ago. I was there on opening day and was even one of their promotional collaborators.

Re who else liked the movie, how do you account for that?

He said it showed in Dallas - at some film festival to great reception. Here's a directory:

3. I wish I could have been at the Q &A
I saw the film at the Angelika Sunday, and hope to see it again soon. Joe Conason is going to be back tomorrow? I will try to attend.

5. He often does that. The entire exchange last night was extraordinary!
Both the questions and the answers. Someone at one point said that the GOP are so determined to keep the power that they won't let go.
He responded that they were no less determined in '92 and '96 and we need to organize.
Someone asked how do we convince the right winger. he said it was a waste of time - we can't and don't need to. We have a decisive majority - just need to get organized.

6. Trying to access his Clinton interview - Salon won't let me in
watching their stupid NY Times commercial only to be returned to the same page - of the commercial.
