2. Same here. I wanted to go tomorrow but spouse wants to
do something else both Friday and Saturday. Hopefully we can go Sunday. Sheesh. I want to take my 16 yo grandson with...I hope it's okay? Moore did say to take the kids didn't he? My g.son isn't exactly a child anyway...so.....

I wish I had some friends who were the proverbial fence sitters so I could take them with... they are the ones that REALLY need to see such a film, IMO.

3. re: kids at F911....
be aware that there are GRUESOME and PAINFUL and DISTURBING scenes in the movie...

screaming wounded soldiers and children. horrific wounds.

I could NOT look at some of the footage, and, I've seen EVERYTHING here on DU. but, video with audio is not like the stills

that said... be prepared for some adult discussion with any kids you bring to this movie....

5. I was kinda wondering about that too... My kid is
Edited on Fri Jun-25-04 01:28 AM by Sugarbleus
a very large 16 yr. old. Do you think it would be right for him?

He's no shrinking violet, if you get my meaning, but still, if it's what I imagine, maybe I don't want to freak him out unnecessarily????
Please advise. Thanks. SB

On edit to add: Frankly, hubby is a Viet Nam Vet. I'm not sure he could stand it either (those particular parts I mean) Advise welcome.

6. I took my 12 year-old nephew to see the movie...
He was not freaked out but he did cry a few times, as did a lot of other folks in the theater. He yelled out "you suck" when Bush was on the screen at one point. That was pretty funny.

He did have some very thoughtful questions about what we saw and I know that we will talk about it more tomorrow.

He couldn't get over how Bush stole the election. That seemed to bother him the most.

11. Thank you so much for replying. I've been waiting all
day to come back in here to find out what others had to say. We plan on going Sunday. Our theater only sells the tickets at the door so I'm hoping we can get them tomorrow for sunday.......Yikes! I can't stand the suspense!

10. No problem. Take him.
There's nothing too hard to take there, unless you voted for Bush last time around.

12. 16 year old - take him - he's only a year or two away from recruiters
trying to get him to sign up.

I think Moore handled the editing of the violent scenes very well. Didn't linger long on the wounded and dead but did show that this is no damn video game.

I personally think all kids in high school needs to see this with their parent. Better now than later when they're wearing BDU's.

13. I hear that!
My concern since last year has been how can I keep him OUT OF service!

I've been to the CO websites and things have changed a good bit. I mean, I don't want to turn him into a momma's boy but I also don't want him being drafted into something like what we're are experiencing now. I've asked him if he wants to join the military and he said no...............still, I'm terrified.
