Army told not to use Israeli bullets in Iraq

I'm sorry, this is absurd. WTF does it matter what bullets are used?

1. Maybe they don't meet specs.
I know it seems crazy, but this might be more fuel heaped on the rage already caused buy the US. From an Iraqi perspective , not only are they kiling us but they are using Israeli bullets...

Remember the paper cartridges that sparked off the Sepoy Mutiney in India?
I don't believe the cases are similar however.

3. Bullets are completely within spec.
I have personal experience with them. IMI is the only supplier outside the US to be approved.

5. Yeah I agree
It has to be a PR issue then. But these morons in charge of policy already believe the ends justifies the means... so I am baffeled.

Is there some kind of diplomatic or commerce related reason then?

2. Because of the strong anti-Israeli sentiment
There's killing people, and then there's killing people with Israeli bullets, appearently.

No, I don't think it's logical either.

6. Are each Israeli bullet marked as an Israeli bullet?
I think they need to be moving the situation to a point where bullets aren't needed at all, so it wouldn't matter where they came from. Until that time, our troops just need ammo.

7. Being the proud owner of a case of Israeli surplus,

I can tell you that the cases are headstamped with TZZ and the year manufactured.

American made cartridges are headstamped "LC" and the year. "LC" stands for the Lake City (MO) Army Ammunition plant.

Other American made ammo may be stamped "WCC" and the year. This stands for "Winchester Cartridge Company" They are an approved supplier.
