There is nothing American about American Express.
I had to call them about something. I was transfered from one Indian to another. Finally I couldn't understand the last one so I asked her to transfer me to someone in the US. She says that she can help me. I told her that there was nothing American about American Express while I talk to her. Eventually they put me on with someone in the US. The American woman tells me there are call centers all over the world. That's half true, but I asked her if she knew when they were going to send her job to India.

This is bullshit with Amex. If you want to apply for a card over the phone, there are lots of chipper Americans to talk to. But if I need support, I get the New Delhi dilemma.

:argh:

1. I understand your frustration,
but be sure and take it out on the COMPANY and NOT the workers. I'm not resentful towards Indians and other foreign workers who are doing American jobs, I'm resentful towards the CORPORATIONS that enrich their CEO'S and top management at the expense of American jobs while having the nerve to claim that outsourcing will actually help the American economy in the long run (yeah, and pigs will fly into a hell that will freeze over, too)!

I, too, get incredibly frustrated trying to understand foreign workers on the phone. It's not their fault and they probably have as much trouble understanding me as well, but it's still very annoying and extremely frustrating. And it's especially frustrating and annoying when you have a lot of friends and family members who are out of work and can't find jobs because they're all going over to India and China, etc., to save the corporation money so that they can pay their mega-gazillion CEO's and top brass even more obscenely than they already do.

They do NOT put the extra profits they make from outsourcing into improvements and innovations so that they can then hire more American workers, as they and the wingnut repukes and repuke economists claim; they use said profits to enrich themselves. But no, it's all the workers fault for being too greedy and actually wanting a decent wage they can actually live on, it's NEVER the corporation's fault!!!!! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. I don't like American Express
I had a run-in with them back in the 80's and cancelled my account.

3. I like them a lot.
I really love my Amex. I like the web interface and the services. It's a good card. But this is just unfortunate.
